I signed up for Google Voice specifically for looking at cars. When they call my google voice number, they have to leave a description of who they are, and it plays that back to me before I choose to answer the phone. Great way to keep my actual number from them and screen my phone calls.

In that case filling a small balloon with some air and popping it may offer a bit more control. Get one that matches color of your scene, and could potentially be like torn cloth if they get caught in the shot.
