“checks out”
I know this is really old, but how did no one comment on this gem of a line:
I was definitely wondering. Thanks for the answer.
But it didn’t stop you from buying the car. If you can upgrade the shifter to your liking for $250, you probably shouldn’t let it be the deciding factor on a $200k car.
“Man I like almost everything about this car, but I’m not buying it with this crappy shifter”-No one ever.
We don’t have the same tastes and yet I totally get it. One of the reasons I wanted to finally buy a new car is because all of the abuse would be my abuse. I turned down a used version because it looked like it had been beaten on and I can pretty much guarantee you mine has had a harder life in it’s short time on this…
Whoever thought it was a good idea to let that guy drive should have gotten an earful. I don’t care how good of an instructor you are, that is not the right situation for his first experience on a track.
Ok. This along with the original need to be recognized as COTD. No question.
As a chevy fan. These are the absolute worst. I thought they couldn’t get worse than the steel vs aluminum cage bear thing.
Doug, you have done us all a great service here. Sometimes it’s best to just let it be. The most I will usually respond with is “hmm. i thought ...” and move on. I have been wrong before too so there is some self preservation involved. Real bs is hard to ignore though.
“You can really feel that VTEC kick in, yo.”
I’ll just have to disagree here. I think the thing that I like best about my ZL1 is how easy it is to drive at normal speeds. My old Z28 with 230 hp can be fun, but it’s not nearly as nice to drive. The main thing is having an outlet to scratch the itch when you need it. Track days, autox, drag strips. There are…
Jalopnik story idea:
So Chris, why don’t you just set the record straight. What is really going on?
Really handy if you don’t have a cheater bar handy or don’t need much extra leverage. Just be careful if you are really cranking on it because it can slip and cause all sorts of mayhem.
Don’t judge. When I was working as a mechanic, we took a job for an auction yard changing fluids on cars before they went to auction. A bunch of the cars had clearly been flooded. I came across one car where I finally had to drive a screwdriver through the oil filter. I still have the filter as a sort of trophy. Saw a…
Sucked is too strong a word. It was good for it’s time, but I tried to replay it later and wow did it not age well. Had to get a DOS emulation thing on my computer at one point so I could go back and watch those videos a few more times.
Yep. 1 and 2 were all about the showcase. The gameplay got better in later games, but the lack of showcase prevented me from loving them as much as the fist two.
I had the first game on computer. I watched those videos a couple hundred times. The game itself sucked, but I loved watching those videos.
