Long Live Leap Dave Williams!
Long Live Leap Dave Williams!
I wonder if/when we're ever going to see Claire again. I'm sure Samaritan has fulfilled her need for a purpose in life, but I'm genuinely curious if she has any second thoughts about that purpose.
In 2011 bought Leroy Ashby's "With Amusement for All: A History of American Popular Culture since 1830", but I never got around to reading it until this year. It's a really cool exploration of the sociological and anthropological conditions that gave rise to various forms of popular entertainment and diversion. I…
I think "Christmas Special" is a standout episode of the series, and "Christmas Attack Zone" was an A episode as well. Truthfully (with maybe 2 or 3 exceptions) there are no not-good episodes
What I would've given to pull Haley Joel-Osment and Jude Law out of AI and cast them as the little kid and young Greer, respectively
I LOVE how the callback they did a few seasons later with Phyllis gifting Ryan an Ipad wrapped in a hand-knitted oven mitt
Ludachristmas is probably my least favorite 30 Rock Christmas episode - at the very least, i think it's pretty hard to justify placing it above season 3's "Christmas Special". The amount of misdirects in Liz's operation Santa subplot is so 30 Rock.
the entire episode felt like a callback to "you're getting old"
I really prefer Jake and Amy to be platonic - but making Eva Longoria a regular as Jake's girlfriend? Now THAT is some 'shipping I can get behind. It's hard to explain, but whereas Jake and Amy are very different people whose wave functions happen to constructively interfere during moments of witty workplace banter,…
They've already checked Parks, 30 Rock, and The Office off the list, now all we need is a channel dedicated to Donald Glover stalkers
Toofer? Isn't it spelled Twofer? Because you get two-fer-one with James? Just my two cents fer one
Elias and Dominc engaging in a game of Sun Tzu/Roman wordplay was delightful. The care with which this show crafts the ethical and intellectual personas of its villains (as opposed to denouncing them as cartoonish goons) is really admirable. Elias and Dominic may be terrible people, but, like Collier, Decima, and…
I hear you regarding relatively slow big-picture development, but at this point i think POI has earned the benefit of the doubt. I'm still confident the back half will be epic and make the past two seasons feel like child's play and make all other shows' moral dilemmas look trivial by comparison.
This is probably my favorite New Girl episode to date. This episode was stunningly densely packed with jokes (like, approaching community/30 Rock territory), and the ending was just so emotionally satisfying without being cliche. The show may never reach the comedic hot streak it did during season 2, but to me this…
Say, where does a young cult refugee get started in this city?
The show isn't flat-out unwatchable or uninteresting, which is good. But there's a difference between a great show and a compelling show, and I was really hoping HTGAWM would be the former and not the latter :(
At this point, it's clear where the show does passably well (constructing compelling narrative, albeit one requiring a very high suspension of disbelief) and where it fails miserably (developing its characters, let alone earning the audience's empathy with and emotional investment in said characters). It is "House of…
"The Holiday" is really long and tedious, but that end scene is just perfect.
I don't have much to add - Alexa's reviews remain extremely thorough and insightful. I will say, that scene with Dominic and the circle has me hoping the writers were foreshadowing the return of Caleb. We already know his skills would be of use to Team Machine, and he would function as a GREAT foil/counterpart to…
it's basically the show clip minus all the dialogue
