How can it possibly be nepotism if the two have no connection to each other?

No, people are confusing topics. Nepotism and ethnic nepotism are not the same thing. Are you saying otherwise? And on the topic of ethnic nepotism, please refer to my reply to Every Little Day for my view on the subject.
Could you clarify what you mean by “starting point?”
This is really quite tedious. If you think that socio-economic status isn’t an issue when it comes to networking and personal connections, then you reject a notion that I subscribe to. If you really think the kid who graduates from a community college in West Virginia has the same connections as Colin Powell’s son,…
If we were talking about ethnic nepotism, and the article had been framed in that regard, you would be correct. But it wasn’t and we aren’t.
But we are talking about nepotism, and nepotism is based solely on relationship and personal connection. Now, what you are describing is “ethnic nepotism,” and that’s not the same thing, and ethnic nepotism is clearly racist and discriminatory and I would never imply otherwise.
What other demographic factors? This is the definition of nepotism:
Hmmmm. I am not sure what lens you are examing my commentary through, but your statements don’t make sense.
I am discussing how nepotism impacts people primarily due to their background and class. I can tell you with certitude that I do not believe my race has ever been a factor when it comes to nepotism in the workplace. So no, I can’t see that.
I am going to look for the book on Amazon. thanks for the recommendation and the thoughtful reply.
It’s implied that the discussion is focused on nepotism in the US, but the fact is that nepotism is an issue that doesn’t know historical or geographical boundaries. It’s the condition of someone being favored, especially in employment or a position of power, solely due to relation or friendship. And that is the…
Han Chinese make up 92 percent of the population. The other 8 percent compromises 55 ethnic groups. The intent of my example was to show the issue in a country that doesn’t match the demographics of America, where the split is much different. I can’t think of any sizeable country that has a purely homogenous…
Well, I disagree. Lower-middle class looks like unattainable wealth to those who grow up in poverty. And the people you know, the places your family and friends hold in the workforce, they are often very different from others who come from wealthier backgrounds.
It does, but as a white man that grew up in poverty and was always the minority in my communities and schools, I think it’s more of a class issue than a gender or racial issue. Poor people in general do not have the social connections to benefit like those from more well-to-do social classes.
Nepotism benefits anyone on the receiving end. If we’re to talk about nepotism in China, your statement would be false. You are correct, due to demographics in the US (I am assuming you are talking about the US), but that doesn’t mean nepotism is a racial issue.
I think the issue of nepotism or cronyism is a valid concern, but not sure it’s limited to a racial issue. Qualified people of all genders, races and cultures are in the same position when it comes to merit versus connections in the workplace.
It would be helpful if you mentioned that Jim Rossignol is a founder of RockPaperShotgun.com and has a long history as a video game journalist...or that Big Robot previously published “Sir, You Are Being Hunted!”
I don’t disagree. However, you are going to get the best functionality out of a touchscreen.

Sure, if you are buying a Chromebook to use just as a laptop. Again, this is the ONLY 13 inch convertible and the only 13 inch with a touchscreen. Shep is touting Android support...why would you buy a Chromebook for Android support without a touchscreen. Why do you think the Asus Flip is the number one seller on…

Not a good deal. Get the brand new Acer R 13 Chromebook on Amazon for 350. That’s 50 dollars less than anywhere else and it’s a convertible (screen folds back for tablet mode) with touch screen support.
