Yeah. That’s what makes Mitch more frightening than Trump in some respects. Mitch is just a complete power for the sake of power entity. No beliefs or anything animating him. He just wants to be Majority Leader until the sun burns out and everything else is gone.

Yup. Mitch is Littlfinger minus the Achilles’ Heel of Sansa/Catelyn.

To have all that power and access to wealth for all these years, and yet Kentucky sits at the bottom of every list, mired in poverty, ignorance, and misery.

That’s the worst part. It’s become passe at this point to try and match characters from A Game of Thrones with real-life analogues. But even in such a passe game, Mitch stands out, because even among the shallow, grievance-nursing elites of Westeros, they all nevertheless have some motivation for what they’re doing.

It all makes sense when you understand that McConnell – more than any other politician in recent memory – sees what so many others have lost sight of in a cloud of other concerns: Control of the federal court system trumps almost everything else. Everything he’s done has been directed toward entrenching far-right

I imagine most people who were both directly and indirectly responsible for crippling all three branches of the Federal government might, at some point, in a private moment feel some pang of guilt for what they had done to the country and its institutions they had sworn to protect and uphold.

We can only hope the RBG gets the last laugh and outlives Trump.

If you do it, I’d skip the dinner invitation. It makes it potentially reciprocal and it doesn't sound like she owes you anything.

Even if the scale isn’t budging, keep in mind you’re still doing good things for your body, and that’s worth doing just for its own sake.

I posted on Groupthink this week bc you told us about it!

I don't think Gilead is upon us......yet. But don't do anything foolish like renounce citizenship elsewhere if you have it.

Love SNS? Ever wish it was available 24/7? A long long time ago, jezebel (and all the gawker blogs) had an openthread that was always available for just general chatting. This was back in the days when the comments were actually moderated. It was just a scrolling page of comments, nothing fancy. Jezebel’s was called Gr

And what I’ve learned over the years is that comments like the ones Hill reported are designed not to get you to sleep with them but to put you off your game. You come in confident, you’re thrilled to get the clerkship or the job, and you’re competition. It’s hazing; that helps them confuse you, knock you off your

I have a friend whom I like a lot, but she is a little too much sometimes. She doesn’t pick up on cues that it’s maybe time to switch conversational topic, end a text message convo, or go home and similar. She’s just to eager, there is something puppy-like about her. Has anyone had any luck getting an over-eager

Weekly Achievement/Do-Good Thread! What have you accomplished this week or what good deed have you done for someone else? Let us know so we can cheer your accomplishment/kind gesture.

He hasn’t deleted it yet lol

Awright Jezzers, I hope everyone had a cracking week. My big win was getting my first project into production, never thought I’d see the day when my art would be used for commercial purposes. I’m pretty pleased with myself. The office renovations are finally finished (I say “office” but it’s actually a residence, my

Best reminder of how young Anita Hill was when she went through that. I’m old now but remember how she was treated, remember the Clarence Thomas “this is a lynching!” combativeness (cut to 2018 Kavanaugh - same strategy their PR coaches teach them), and the tut-tutting from all the boys in the boys club.

He doesn’t have to be ‘proven’ guilty of anything. The bar for banning someone from a tournament is quite a lot lower than the bar for imprisoning someone.
