H1-Bs are ALWAYS attached to an employer. The H1-B holder is not free to float around.

Actually an H1-B is good for 6 years, not 3, I was wrong. And they can be renewed after that. Also, their spouses can work without having H1-bs themselves.

You don’t get it. Visas are good for 6 years (I wrote 3 before, I was wrong, it’s 6 years) and can be renewed. This is 85K on top of every year since 1990 when the program started. Actually, it’s more than that. The limit was over 140,000 for a time. and currently it’s around 100,000 new H-1B workers arriving each…

Visa holders are beholden to the sponsoring company. So you have an employee for 3 or more years that you don’t have to give benefits to, they do not complain for better conditions, and really, you don’t have to pay market rate to. Really. They do not have to pay market rate. They can classify the job as a programmer…

Visas should not be granted if they can find an American or even a green card holder for the job.

And these visa holders are indentured to the company for 3 or more years without complaint.
