They are heavy but not THAT heavy. A Tesla Model 3 weights 3.5k-3.8k lb. An M3 weights about same 3.5k lb. The dual motor version will be heavier most likely but overall we are talking about a 10-15% weight difference max while having better aerodynamics. So it isn’t that hard to believe an model 3 can beat an M3.

The Performance Model 3 will dominate the M3 everywhere. Video very likely the next few weeks.

Isn’t it great that you get to recycle your prediction from 2007-2008 when you were wrong and try again?

well there’s one tesla roadster that’s going at least 17 000mph...

Better than an ignorant, piece of crap commentator.

The thing to me is it does not look like a currently estimated 200K car. It looks to me more “like” a lotus evora.

I’m sure the test driver Tesla hired to wring out their up and coming halo supercar had access to a bit more data than his buttdynometer.

Somewhere around 0.045 seconds for a 0-60 time would put you at about 60g’s. thats in the accepted range of lethal to humans.

Sadly, it seems the ratio of price to power is directly connected to the douchebag level of the owner. That’s why Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers attract the worst crowd at car shows - it’s the most horsepower for the dollar. Same deal with Tesla - while they’re pricey, they’re still half the cost of anything else

He’s not saying he failed or should quit, there comes a time to hand it off for the next phase. He has plenty of other interests that could use his dedicated passion. Manufacturing bottlenecks don’t seem like they are “Musk-worthy”.

A lot of criticisms can be justifiably lobbed at Elon Musk, but failure to execute is not one of them. Yes, he regularly misses production targets. However, they guy co-founded PayPal after starting a software company while, if my memory serves me correctly, he was around 12. He then launched Tesla and SpaceX in

I’ve heard of volvo, but consumer reports tested both and said teslas are safer. Quickest to 60 isn’t really debatable at sub 2.3 sec.. Automotive enthusiasts like me care if a sedan is quicker to 60 than not just “a Ferrari,” but Every Ferrari that retails for under a million new- it’s an accomplishment. You’re not

Sure, build a car factory/assembly line in a tent, and commentariat is upset.

Restore a barn find Miura under a tent and you’re an instant Jalopnik Gold member :P

First of all, production rates and delivery rates are not the same (although the one you cite was production). Vehicles are not delivered at the same rate as production (especially with Tesla now juggling the Federal tax credit 200k limit). Q1 deliveries totaled 29,980 vehicles.

The point is an industrial tent can be made to pretty much have all the amenities of a permanent building (climate control actually is very common for industrial tents, just doing some quick search).

Another solid hitpiece, Ryan. Never let the fact that their response was measured, plausible and verifiable stand in the way of a gossipy click-bait opportunity. Do you guys get training and explicit editorial direction on how produce narrow-sighted rumour mongering pieces, or is it just something that comes naturally

I must admit, this was the tweet in his thread that impressed me:

Waiting for the forthcoming teardown of the Mission-E, electric VW bus and Audi electric whatever where they discover that housed inside each battery pack is actually...

I do not understand why this man can say literally anything and get away with it.

“We’re moving from a position of strength to transform Ford for the future.” I can’t stand this kind of meaningless jibber jabber. This says absolutely nothing about anything.
