The other day, a scientific website that I follow on Facebook posted about how something-or-other benefits “mankind”.

It was completely normally not to say “man” when you mean “human” twenty years ago.

Do they just sit in a room passing legislation that they know endears them to their base even if they know its useless?

We also tend to think that most 14-year-old girls are pretty, because we equate youth with beauty. It’s like talking about which toddler is cutest. There are some that are objectively not cute (or not beautiful), but we value youth so highly that it tends to overshadow even that.

They do have dozens of livestreams all day, AND primetime coverage of some of the more popular sports. It’s just aggressively terrible primetime coverage. Even for NBC.

The CBC has online live coverage for each sport, and then a primetime t.v. program that shows the highlights of the day. I don’t see why NBC couldn’t do the exact same thing...

FWIW, according to the commentators on the live stream, catching yourself with your hands now counts as a fall, not an “almost fall”.

The primary reason to wear blaze orange is so that other hunters will see it and not shoot you.

I watched the the stream online this afternoon. Even the commentators could not convince themselves that this was in any way surprising, or that there was ever any doubt about the outcome.

I’m pretty sure there has been research that has shown that people have inaccurate perceptions about whether or not advertising affects them.

Which is to say: Everybody always claims to see right through all of the advertising. It works anyway. It’s subconscious.
