Between last quarter and warning light. Unless I have an Autobahn drive before me and not enough gas for the whole stretch (because gas is more expensive there).

I wouldn’t put that statue in front of MY museum. But I honestly do not understand what is “highly offensive” about underwear.
I have been in contact with worse roof-rack-related stupidity. Enjoy this gem from the 1990s:
For me (an Austrian citizen and resident) the Lumina is one of the very few US cars I have actually driven, seeing as we had a rental around 2001, I believe. It felt somewhat flimsy, but it did have everything we needed to cruise those endless Southwestern straights: bench seat in front, three-on-the-tree, AC and…
I don’t treat myself to new cars. That way I get treated to all the things the original buyer treated themselves to. Currently that means panoramic sunroof (kid loves it), heated seats (kid and wife love them), heated steering wheel (I love it) …
Speaking as the former owner of Carina Mk II, this thing is likely to last for quite some time. That said, it is not exactly charming or intriguing. I mean, even a Mazda5 has the sliding door thing going for it, and you can easily find one of those that will live nearly as long for a lot less money.
You should check out the prices on used Wranglers. Healthy four figures for maybe-running, definitely non-roadworthy abominations with rotten frames.
Awww! My uncle had one of those (Kadetts, not kids), in yellow, no less. I used to be intrigued by the way water would flow out around the headlights when he hosed out the wheel wells.
The cabrio is probably substantially heavier than the hatchback, but my mother still retains fond memories of the 70hp Golf I. I believe it had less than 800 kg, and those 70 horsepower made it “go like hell” in her words.
Is that the Tomica Bit CharG? Looks like a rip-off.
I am not sure I get this. If they don’t understand the concept of a roundabout, shouldn’t they at least be familiar with the concept of a road with one lane for each direction?
An actual friend of mine found out her father was not her father at an actual dinner conversation about that.
Still, both the taillight article and the Tesla article were written and published. Should I understand that the site was more valuable if only the taillight article had appeared?
Styling-wise, the 1st-gen TT is definitely one of the finest cars of the last forty years - a true masterpiece. If you are embarrassed to like it, there is something wrong with the people around you.
Maybe double badging is just a done thing at MB? MB cars were all double-badged, if memory serves, with the upright tristar on the radiator and the actual badge that said “Mercedes Benz”. Are they still?
This reminds me of Rincewind and the banananananana - “he knew how to spell banana, he just didn’t know how to stop”.
I have the (non-lifted, FWD) Opel version, and it’s a very nice long-haul car.
Peugeot has greater interiors, IMHO.
1972 was pretty cool, if money wasn’t an issue. NSU Ro 80? Any muscle car you care to name? W116 S-class? 1st-gen Ford Escort?
This reminds me of a cartoon a local car mag had back around 1990. They employed a pretty wacky cartoonist, and he suggested “dial plate steering”, where the steering wheel was replaced with a dial plate as featured on old phones. The holes had labels ranging from “very right” through “rather right”, “right-ish”,…
