+1 for self-converting bikes to electricity. The smart ebike we bought because we got a serious discount on it never could hold a candle to the one we electrified ourselves with a Chinese kit. That thing still GOES, while the smart POC sits in a corner waiting for someone stupid enough to shell out 700 Euros for

... and the colder and wetter the weather, the mortaller their enmity.

“At one point my wife parked the car, got out of the driver’s door to...get our daughter out, and the car locked itself with [my daughter] stuck in the car.”

Speaking as someone whose only family car for many years was a Golf Mk III with the 1.4 engine which made 55 hp: Yes. Yes to all of the above. It is absolutely possible to not be a moving traffic cone in something that doesn’t roll in performance. Our current obsession with power is insane. My current car’s output is

Came here for this, was not disappointed.

True. But a quarter million for what would basically be viewed as an aging pimp’s car where I am writing this is rather strange.

Ah, Kaiserschmarrn! Had that for dinner yesterday.

Because it doesn’t have that ridiculous X5 tailgate? My mechanic, who was always a bit of BMW guy, traded his X5 for a Volvo after a few months because of that thing.

I always understood that the point of those abominations is to scream that you have enough money to throw at something with all the downsides of an SUV without even being useful. Which they certainly do very well, if you ask me. Although I know one person who is educated, mature, into art and likes the look of the GLE

Have you checked A/C compressor prices on that Chinese site yet? When the compressor on my Mazda5 crapped out, I ordered one that was about 1/4 the price of the Mazda OEM.

Some versions of the Opel Insignia also had that.

I’d say go for it, but I enjoy the twin advantages of a commute that slopes slightly from apartment to office, and, if all else fails, a shower option at the office ;-)

That makes sense. Personally, I enjoy the fact that I have already had a bit of exercise every day without having to make room for it in my schedule.

8 mile flat commute ... how about a bicycle?

So the rules about who can pretend to be what in an acting capacity are different for trans people vs. non-trans people, right?

Thank good I live in a city where high-quality organ meat dishes are easy to come by. Liver, brains, sweetbreads, calf’s face, testicles - all delicious, each in their own way. The breaded brain I had two weeks ago was to die for - such perfect juxtaposition of crispy outside and creamy inside!

It’s nice to sit in but I do believe the trunk in the Outback is quite a bit more roomy.

I admit to being one of those people: When in a restaurant, I used to upend the pepper mill to check if it was a genuine Peugeot article. (These days there are none on the tables, what with the pandemic and all.)

TL, DR: You can have a lot of money to spend on really nice things and still be an a**hole. Ah, yes.

There is a place in Western civilization where a contraption such as that gold ... whatever is street-legal? Color me surprised.
