Governments and companies have been paying these ransomers for years now.

Of course, that’s understandable, but I work at a SaaS company that needs to have its services always up, and our IT department built a parallel system for services before transitioning everyone over at some off-peak time like 1am on a Sunday morning.

Yep...and it just cost them $5 million. I worked in information security and was blown away at how many of our customers were literally gambling that it would never happen to them. 

Plus if it worked once I’d start doing this monthly.  5 million a month sounds nice.

I will never stop being surprised by the amateur hour antics of IT departments that handle security for essential infrastructure. My home network has better security and more regular data backups than these companies, and the most crucial thing I do on my network is troll the BaT auction comments.

It’s still shocking to me every time I go to rent a U-Haul how you don’t have to posses a single qualification outside a driver’s license to rent a 26' box truck. Or any of them, really. Just a driver’s license and a sense of adventure. Surprised more stuff like this doesn’t happen.

Those are definitely not one-way streets. That is a bunch of people getting so confused by a roundabout that they pulled into oncoming traffic lanes. Which is confusing.

Of course, the typical and reasonable way to deal with a roundabout when you’ve never seen one or been taught how to navigate it is to stop instead…
