Yes, but how was that funny?

How many college-age kids do you know who are rich enough that they can afford the $100k+ surgery? In most places it isn’t covered by insurance. So, your requirements for entry would keep out poor people, which I have been lead to understand is something that Greek orgs prefer to do implicitly, rather than explicitly.
So, as a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc, I need to ask.. Why did you not reach out to my organization?
This is why I loathe attendance awards. Why are we literally rewarding children for showing up? Just because your ass is in your seat doesn’t mean you’re learning something. Same goes for work. I have a theory this American workplace trend starts there.
I’m 51 and all of the “reasons” listed above for not taking your vacation were the same ones I used in my 20's, 30's, and 40's. I’m here to tell you that your boss is happy to continue to take advantage of this. It seriously took me to my 50's to learn a very hard lesson. It does not help your career to not take your…
Don’t ever martyr yourself for your job. Don’t try to save them money if that’s not your job, take all of your allotted benefits.
Oh boy. I let 2 weeks go to waste last year because I just felt like I wouldn’t get all of my work done and couldn’t “find the time” (even though it’s flat out given to me as a benefit). And our policy is a use-it-or-lose-it type, so I don’t get payouts at the end of the year for not taking time off. I’m allotted 4…
A school district nearby just started giving teachers a “perfect attendance” bonus for not using any of their days. That is SOME BULLSHIT. Teachers don’t need to be guilted any more into not using their days. Plus, it was like $600- at least give the value of 10 days off.
Amazing, you’ve performed the first step of Kundalini meditation successfully! Keep it up!
Excuse me, but you are the one saying that. You are refusing to sacrifice eating out at the expense of someone else. Which is what you do when you don't tip; you actually make your server pay for part of your meal, since they have to pay tax on 8% of their total sales, whether you actually tip or not.
Actually, no, it does mean that you shouldn't be able to go out to eat. That is what I, and a great many other people on this board are, in fact, saying.
Ordering off menu would be a great example. If your server accommodates that request it puts extra pressure on the bar or the kitchen, who are now obliged to fulfill that request, which isn't fair to any of those employees since they aren't getting tipped by that customer.
But like, you get paid regardless of how the people you help feel. If they feel you did a shitty job, you still get paid. If a server's customer feels they did a shitty job (whether or not they actually did a shitty job) they may not get paid enough to live.
Sounds like you're the one who needs to get a new job. You sound pretty bitter about the one you have. Yes, we applied for a job, we got an offer, we accepted the job. That offer, in my case at least, was $2.00 an hour plus tips. If we don't get tipped, we miss part of our pay. There were a couple of nights when…
The price of food has gone up. The base pay, at least in my state, hasn't — servers are still getting paid $2.35/hour. (And, yes, 20% is the standard tip here.)
PS—there's nothing wrong with working retail forever. Some of us like working retail. Some of us even have degrees in other fields and prefer retail. Don't be mean to retail workers, they sell you things that you want.
I am willing to bet she can calculate 20% when she's trying to figure out what a particular item of clothing she wants will cost on sale. (Not trying to say "Ha ha, women only care about clothes," but clothing is the place where I most often see items NOT individually tagged [or with shelf tags] indicating sale…
HOW IS BABBY FORMED? HOW GIRL GET PREGNANT?
The art of tipping is, for most people, really freaking annoying. How much is too much? How much is too little? Is this the only reason I had to learn how to calculate percentages in 5th grade?
the term trans/trans*/transgender doesn't even appear in Hannan's piece. that seems willfully ignorant at best, nefarious at worst. like "hey, if we don't say she's a transgendered person, then she's not. she's just a man pretending to be a lady! what a con man!"
