I think we can agree that very few things are "for everyone". I just ran a marathon 2 days ago. My legs still ache and I felt like I was dying between miles 24-26 but miles 10-16 felt effortless.

Anybody have a good solution for libraries that have more than 10,000 entries? I mean, my music folder has about 15K songs. I know I could split it up, but my Music is so neatly organized now I'd hate to do that. I'm thinking of using a backup program or something like SyncToy to handle it, but then I need to run it

I've used GrandCentral for about a year now. It worked great until there was an outage lasting almost a month where GC calls never rang my cell phone. They finally fixed that problem after a month. It was very frustrating because they didn't even acknowledge my requests for help.

@shelo: LOL. Dude, that iTunes icon that the program put into the dock is just a dummy icon. You could've run iTunes just fine through the Start menu or Quicklaunch icon. Took me 2 seconds to figure that one out.

Everyone, you might want to consider posting your questions to a forum devoted to this topic like the osx86 section of insanelymac.com. It's unlikely you'll get answers to your questions here.

On a cost basis, building your own rarely gets you ahead. Plus, if you're not really hands-on, I really hope you don't have problems with your build. One great thing companies like Dell have going for them is the limited number of combinations of components and tech support to troubleshoot issues. Don't underestimate

I know people who stop exercising outside when the temperature goes down below 60F because it's "too cold". If you don't want to exercise, then don't. If you'd rather work out indoors, then do it. But for those who do not suffer from a medical condition running in cold weather is safe.

I thought I was the only one who would give out a SSN with a few numbers changed! You should absolutely do this. If there's a problem later on, and they really need your actual number they'll find you.

I love GrandCentral. As another person noted, I wish you could set up more granular schedules based on time. It does let you specify that your home phone will not ring during business hours. But most people want their phones not to ring in the middle of the night.

EMORY, I agree, except that you need to point out the minuses: (1) it doesn't work on the 2nd gen nano (and only partial support for iPods older than 4G, no shuffle support), (2) you'll need to create or download a playback screen because the default one is rather...unpretty, (3) drastically shorter battery life, (4)

The website is OK, but does not discuss what collars are appropriate with which knots. Obviously, the full Windsor is going to be too big for most American "point" collar shirts. Half the knot will be hidden and it will look stupid. Why most Americans seem to choose the point collar is beyond me. It's like they're

mistshadow2k4, sorry, but your comments are just really...well, wrong. :) Ogg is lossy just like mp3. Info is tossed out during the encoding process. I don't know what happened to your old mp3s, but once encoded those files do not further degrade.

I use ogg files on my ipod nano courtesy of Rockbox. Rockbox works with most iPods, but not the 2nd gen nano notably. On the Windoze side, I manage ogg files using MediaMonkey.

paljoakim, if you play the track in MediaMonkey, it will be counted as played when you've played 1/3 of the track. There is no plug-in I know of to change it.

The best advice I could give (FWIW) for numeric data entry is to learn how to type on the numeric keypad without having to look at it. It doesn't take that long to learn and I can enter numbers super fast.

trstn beat me to it. If you really want to mod your iPod nano, use Rockbox. I have a background similar to the one in the picture, but I use white text. It's VERY readable.

I second the vote for Airset. My wife syncs it to Palm Desktop, then to her Treo 650. She used to use it to sync to Outlook, but she hated Outlook.

justrick, LOL! Though I always had sympathy for parents, I had more once I had my own.

I tried out Commodo for about one week. It drove me up the wall. Compared to Zone Alarm or NPF (or even the old Sygate firewall) it popped up at least 5x as many warning messages. No amount of fiddling would get it to shut up. It was extremely irritating.
