Obviously it is far more common for powerful men to be predators and rapists than it is for people to be falsely accusing, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Just because people don’t actually stand much to gain by making false accusations doesn’t mean they don’t sometimes delude themselves into thinking that

And yet there are tons of arrogant brutes who aren’t rapists and plenty of “nice guys” who are. You never really know people from appearances and that probably goes double in a place like Hollywood where public personas are often manufactured. I never in a million years would have pegged Bill Cosby as a serial rapist

Did they ever even finish getting Pokemon Go past being a glorified beta release? Might want to finish one game before your release another.

I usually do believe it, especially when there’s an air that the man puts off that makes it believable (arrogance or brutishness, for one). It’s reasonable to feel more skeptical when it’s someone who has only given the indication of being a kind and honest person, like Tambor. We don’t know if she’s lying or he is

Well that’s quite a twisty pretzel of logic...

Hollywood IS a shallow, amoral, and opportunistic place! But why do you default to “the accusers are opportunistically lying” and not “the accused were opportunistically commiting sexual harassment, assault, and rape”? I mean, the accused have all been rich, powerful men, with lots of opportunities to do bad things

Totally agreed, but abuse is ‘unfortunate’ whoever is involved.

It’s possible that something Tambor did could currently be taken as harassment, even if it wasn’t meant as such and doesn’t meet the legal definition. Since there’s no indication of what the behavior was, it’s probably best to reserve judgement right now. That said, if what comes out doesn’t pass the smell test, then

I’m much more willing to be skeptical with the one-offs; there’s always the possibility that it was something more innocent that got misconstrued. Most of the accusations lately have been patterns of behavior; clearly, Weinstein and Spacey were serial predators, and a few others (Dustin Hoffman, for example) were, at

With the high impact these allegations have had on many famous people, I think the chances are good that there are some false accusations from people with a personal vendetta. I am wary of any one-off accusations, so unless there’s a pattern of abusive behavior from Tambor, color me skeptical.

Yeah, this is going to absolutely suck if more people come forward and the accusations bear fruit, it’d be like if you found out Mr. Rogers was a rapist, mainly because Tambor exudes human decency in most of his performances, even when playing ne’er do wells like George Senior and Hank Kingsley, its part of what makes

It’s weird how it’s only false accusations of harassment and rape that the general public seems to care about. There are countless innocent (or not guilty of the crimes they were charged with) people languishing in American prisons right now because cops and DAs are more interested in getting their numbers up instead

Eventually SOMEONE is going to think “I can get revenge on this celebrity I know that I don’t like by claiming they sexually harassed me in some way”. It already happened, years ago, with Paula Poundstone and a foster kid.

Fuck I mean if not for all the interviews in which Tambor seems like a genuinely warm and lovable human being, if not for his classic roles being tainted to the extent I can no longer appreciate the brilliance of his portrayal of Hank Kingsley, then at the very least for the fact that if Tambor becomes a pariah we

If one of these allegations turn out to be false, the whole “outing the harassers” movement is liable to cave in, because the people in power will be able to use it as an excuse to ignore things again. I don’t want Jeffrey Tambor to have harassed anyone, but false allegations are both extremely rare and extremely

Don’t we always hope it isn’t true (that a person has been harassed/assaulted/raped)? Do you mean that, unlike the other assholes accused, you don’t expect this to be true?

Weird Al Yankovic

Unlike the other assholes being accused, I’m truly hoping this isn’t true.

Honestly, one of my absolute favorite parts of this season was the understated “Hey Bob,” “Hi, Jim” in the tunnels after all of that craziness, with the shoulder pat.

Probably my favorite episode of the season. I just love how accepting Bob is of everything, he doesn’t understand it all but is glad to help.
