Yes, the verbal tense is the proble here - it’s not wrong, just sounds stiff. If the infivite “kurau” were replaced by the imperative “kurae”, as you say, it’d sound more natural. Yeah! I’m looking at cast now, most actors seem to be highly proficient if not native to the language they speak. Widowmaker voice actress is French, and while I can’t find the credits for “Hero”, the sprinkled Spanish is fantastic.
