Apparently Star Trek is pretty popular with businesses.

This is scarier than a lot of the recent horror films I have seen.
Yassss. I didn’t care for The Day After Tomorrow OR 2012, but this looks like too much fun.
Haha, I hear ya. I have to admit I was a little young at the time of Volcano and it upset me because L.A. is my home. But yeah, seeing it again as an adult, it is really, really bad (and it upsets me now because of Tommy Lee Jones—WHY, TLJ? WHY?!).
I was particularly upset by the Ferngully scenes (the light-up glowing plants that I think activated when touched). I mean, they were pretty, yes, but dammit, THAT WAS TAKEN FROM FERNGULLY. Ugh. It wasn’t just referential, it was blatant Frankenfilm made out of chunks of Dances with Wolves, Ferngully, and Pocahontas.…
I mean, I knew it was going to be spectacle, too. I just thought it took itself way too seriously (even with the tongue-in-cheek “unobtanium”) to be considered an attempt at just being spectacle.
I feel bad but I really want to see San Andreas.
So, I feel dumb, but I didn’t know that about lava and concrete. I guess that makes sense, though. I really love your post for reframing that part of the movie for me (yes, it’s terribly dumb, regardless, but now I know of more dumbness!).
I could have sworn Cameron said the film, in its entirety, was amazing, and held it out as such. Like best everything amazing. I could be misremembering, though.
Do you listen to How Did This Get Made? it’s a great podcast about terrible movies. They covered this one, and I thought the episode was hilarious. I believe Paul F. Tompkins was the guest.
I logged in on my phone while at work (I don't log in on government computers) just so that I could star this. Well done.
Yes.
How Did This Get Made?: All about bad movies, with Paul Scheer, Jason Mantzoukas, and June Diane Raphael, plus special guests like Adam Scott, Chelsea Peretti, Rob Corddry, and Amy Schumer.
I made this with my boyfriend about a week ago. I'm so hoping it will be good.
This is one of the podcasts I really should not listen to while out in public, because I am constantly saying things out loud in response to it and how ridiculous so much of it seems. I have my own theories about who did it (SPOILER: I think either Jay did it or he did it with Adnan) but holy shit is the evidence weak…
Is tone-deafness a disease that is spreading like wildfire these days?! For fuck's sake...
I have been saying this for awhile! Charlie's mother deserved to go. Grandpa Joe is the worst.
So, I thought this was going to be about people making their own mayonnaise, which, coincidentally, I just did tonight (and is far superior to the Hellman's/Best Foods crap you buy in stores) and now I am sad.
Yes, and there's likely an explanation for this (like the woman who sold the house has a daughter with my name and she wrote it on the wall when she was young, my mother offered as an explanation). It's just a really freaky, creepy coincidence. That's what I'm hoping, at least.
Special Agent Fox "Spooky" Mulder had some pretty spectacular self-destructive tendencies. Lots of self-loathing.
