Get Out was only obliquely a comedy. It is damn near its own genre of “there are jokes in here but we’re not kidding”.

It’s satire, which throws it in as a comedy. Still, its humor is rooted in the horrors of liberal Whiteness. The genius of the movie is that it cranks that mindset up to 11, then exposes how ridiculous it truly is. Get Out is going to Jordan Peele a LOT of awards, and I’m here for it.

‘Get Out’ feels like it’s our ‘Seven’, so I’m gonna go scary more than funny on this one, even though it wasn’t terribly frightening. Shit was just a solid thriller that made me anxious for a large portion of it.
