I wish I could say you were exaggerating about how bad it is, but I can’t.

When I woke up to the Vegas news yesterday all I could do was ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So, so much worse.

This week completely broke me. The events in Puerto Rico and vegas make me so profoundly sad and depressed.

Once a coworker told me that even after Sandy Hook he’s never giving up his guns, I realized any attempt at a discussion about it was completely over.

It is extremely difficult to screw in a screw without a screwdriver. Hard to tighten a nut without a wrench. Hard to shoot someone without a gun. Most people understand that tools are purpose-built.

And nothing about timing made her throw in the bullshit framing of:

We’ve informally reached out to a few people who work in TV news who confirm there isn’t a specific hard break until the end of the hour. This break occurred during the show’s first half.

Ok. In her defense, as someone who has been a network anchor (radio) and is still in broadcast news in a top 10 market, she likely DID have a hard break. You’re up against automation and you absolutely must hit that break (hit that post). If you don’t, the automation will cut you off. You have to backtime your way

It’s an Island (of Gun Control) surrounded by a really big Ocean (of gun nuts)

Seriously.

“I think if you look to Chicago, where you had over 4,000 victims of gun-related crimes last year, they have the strictest gun laws in the country. That certainly hasn’t helped there.”

Hearing Protection Act of 2017

I watch syndicated Gray’s Anatomy episodes while I’m at the gym, and it’s weird knowing Katherine Heigl was reduced to doing cat litter commercials ‘cause she was kind of a bitch.

Same in the UK, a guy walked into a school and massacred children in 1996 and we got rid of the guns.

Shit, missed Economic ANXIETY on my bingo card.

But don’t forget, boys and girls: he’s “not a terrorist.” Just a “lone wolf.” Up next: he had “mental health issues” and felt “disenfranchised.”

I see where this argument is coming from, but those cars / hands you mention are for other purposes besides killing. A firearm has no other reason to exist than to extinguish a life, and it is designed to do that very efficiently with minmal effort by the wielder.
