Yeah, 100 mph is completely unacceptable (especially in a vehicle like this).

But I can’t be serious about buying something I’ve never driven. I made that mistake once in my life (first car I bought when I was young and dumb). To me, no test drives is such a red flag that I am not even going to waste my time seeing a car with a seller who’s taking that stance.

This is the surprise of the day for me. I voted NP without looking at comps, even though the price seemed high to me, because every time there is a high-mileage Toyota here, it seems like my gut reaction on an appropriate price is about 40% below the market’s view. Apparently, there’s a limit to what the market will

That is unequivocal CP. I don’t care what you’re selling....if you won’t let me drive it, I sure as hell am not giving you my money for it.

My grandparents had an old Nash Rambler that was from before the days when seatbelts in the back seat were a thing. I loved it when we’d borrow the car occasionally, because my parents were otherwise soooooo uptight about making us wear out seatbelts. Even though I knew it made sense, they were so strict about

Thank you! I wanted to say the same thing. There are a lot of items that, in nominal terms, are at their HIGHEST PRICE EVER every month of every year.

I had a stretch of time where I was driving 3000-4000 miles a month. 120 mile round-trip commute (3-4 days a week), girlfriend who lived 450 miles away (round trip) who I drove to see 2-3x per month, family was 150 miles round trip (1-2x per month), and it was also that time in life where I’d jump in the car with a

To me, the uniqueness of “it’s not a 911” is a pretty big selling point. I’m not at the point in my life where a $100,000 car of any type is in the offing, but it sure seems like it would be a bummer to drop  100k and then see every Tom, Dick and Sally driving the same damn car.

As others have said, this is worth more than $1500, but I agree completely with your general point. I’m a big fan of the regal. I drove one from the prior generation for 18 months or so (this was in the early ‘00s) — it was a great highway cruiser and, other than a failed fuel pump, was dead reliable for the nearly

Completely agree. I pay a decent amount of attention to cars, but on the road, I can’t distinguish most euro cars from the front or the back. And with BMW’s gran coupes and so on, it’s increasingly hard to figure out which is which from the side.

Bezos would die of envy.

I think the whole PBA card system is a great demonstration of how utterly corrupt law enforcement is in this country.

The news media/cop relationship is a huge problem, particularly at the local level, which is where most of this stuff is covered. My brother worked as a videographer for a local TV station for a number of years, mostly doing overnights.

Can you imagine how wild it is to be George Soros? Survive the Nazis as a child, then become unimaginably wealthy AND THEN occupy so much real estate in conservatives’ heads that they believe you are the all-powerful force behind every world event they dislike.

I do think a lot of unsafe things human drivers do which lead to accidents are caused by human perception errors that could be corrected by self-driving technology. Things like getting lost or missing a turn or deciding that we know the way better than the GPS and making a sudden turn to change the route....in theory,

My thoughts exactly. Sure, there are plenty of “Jeep People,” but the Wrangler’s sales success is more about it being perceived as a cool, fun car. If the bronco can give off similar vibes, it should be able to compete for that market.

My sort-of-educated guess is that dealers are low-balling because they don’t want a TDI. Diesel engines in non-trucks have a limited but passionate audience. To maximize the sales price, I’d guess dealers would have to plan to sit on a diesel vehicle for significantly longer than the equivalent gas engine version.

Tires are definitely an issue, but your point about the tech is great as well. There is a whole generation of cars from this area saddled with primitive technology that is more or less impossible to replace.

My thought process exactly. The ownership experience of a luxury car of this age is going to largely depend on how well it was maintained.

Maybe I’m having the same nostalgia, but this is easy NP for me.
