Do people do 3800 swaps in these?

Yes, I’ve been making the same argument in the comments here for years. There is a big chunk of America where people just won’t buy a Porsche. Not because it’s too expensive, but because they’ll get funny looks around town. There would be a definite market for an American performance SUV line.
Great point re: better access to capital by giving creditors clear and efficient ways to recover on bad loans.
I’m not sure why this article is treating bankruptcy as the end for JCrew. This is chapter 11 (restructuring), not chapter 7 (liquidation). The equity holders (the PE investors) will get wiped out, the current lenders will end up owning the company, and the company can shed contracts that no longer make sense (for a…
Yup....practically every gardener in LA has one of these, still going strong after 35+ years. They seem to be unkillable.
I had an almost new Palisade as a Lyft from the airport back in December. It is a really nice vehicle. I found it similar to VW in that the interiors have a premium feel that’s much nicer than Honda/Toyota/Ford/Chevy. The thing is MASSIVE (which is either a plus or a minus depending on what you need in a car).…
A 97% drop in car sales is what it looks like when you really shut down nonessential business. I can believe that 3% of the car sales in a typical period are true essentials (“my car just got totaled and I need a replacement.”) The other 97% can wait a couple months.
Yup. There are maybe two of the colors I wouldn’t want to see on a car today. Really great color tones, and with modern paint technology, they would have a ton of depth too. But no, todays carmakers rename white and roll that out as the “special” color for the year.
Agreed. Maybe it’s because I grew up in the era where these were still everywhere but already looked antiquated, but I just have no desire to drive one of these. Especially for 8500.
I could be misremembering, but I thought the Ohio and Indiana highway patrols had the single lights too, least in the recent past (ok, 20 years ago, but 2000 still FEELS recent to me).
This was my thought too. Numbers matching just doesn’t seem relevant on a vehicle at this level - potential buyers will care much more about whether it’s in driving condition and aesthetics.
I voted nice price, having forgotten about the head gasket issues everyone always talks about. After reading all the comments here (especially about the HG being an engine out job), I’d switch my vote to CP if I could.
I’m not an employment lawyer, but this generally looks right to me. She very likely has a case for hostile work environment discrimination but wrongful termination is likely a more uphill battle.
The typical Tesla customer is probably also replacing a car that has a ton of life left. These largely aren’t people driving a 15-year-old beater who are buying a Tesla when the most recent repair the beater needs is just too expensive to be worthwhile.
Yup, any of the kind of shit people (and I include myself in “people”...not trying to get on a high horse here) blow disposable income on in flush times is going to be available at a discount. So whether it’s weekend cars, fancy camera equipment, jet skis, guitars...they’re going to be going at fire sale prices as we…
Exactly. I never loved these when they came out — still don’t — but there’s a lot of good stuff here that makes this seem like a great $5k car.
Exactly what I was going to post. Given what is likely to be a protracted economic recession, and one that is playing out a bit unpredictably due to the incredibly wide-spread nature of this disruption and the uncertainty about what the return to normalcy looks like (or even what “normal” will mean going forward), now…
Travel Town! My kid loved going there! Good times.
Completely agree. I think the general elite view is that Trump is so obviously an incompetent idiot - how could anyone vote for him? And then after 2016, that view adjusted to “Hillary was a uniquely flawed candidate who ran a uniquely flawed campaign, and Trump got lucky, but NOW, since everyone has had four years to…
I keep thinking about this. Modern American culture is just completely unprepared for serious, long-term adversity. The Great Depression into WWII was 15+ years of terrible privation, mass hunger and housing insecurity, and severe shortages/rationing of basic resources. Now, people don’t know how to handle toilet…
