I voted CP, because this car is just completely uninspiring to me (not into convertibles, worn interior, automatic) and I have no desire to spend $4k on something like that.

Maybe it looks better in person, but man that does not photograph well. Especially for the interior of a 100k car.

Yeah, the fact that it’s at a dealer like this tells you all you need to know. This car isn’t nearly interesting enough to warrant the risk.

I’m tail-end GenX, so I grew up amid trend pieces about GenX slackers living in big cities, drinking pricey coffee at Starbucks and pissing off their boomer bosses by wearing khakis.

Think of it as a lease, not a purchase. Even if it lasts a year before it blows up, that’s $400 per month (plus whatever tax Florida charges on cars, which is still likely less than the drive-off fees on many leases).

100%. All the bulky size and lowered efficiency of a three-row SUV, none of the utility of a third row.

Buy a Fisker. At least it will look really cool sitting in your driveway after it breaks down and you can’t find parts to fix it.

Seriously. It looks like a budget Nissan Sentra knock-off.

From my own bitter Craigslist experiences, I’ve found that anyone referencing “dreamers” is a pill.

Yup, my dad drove a couple Subarus from this era back in the 80s. Very reliable by the generally poor standards of the time, but rust claimed both of them before long.

This picture is so full of pathos that I need to see my therapist after looking at it.

Honestly I think Rob had the corolla-virus pun in his head and needed a venue for it while it was still topical.

Exactly. The mis-matched hood, bad tint, cracked center disc, etc, on a car this age, sends the message “this is the $500 beater I saved from the pick-n-pull because I couldn’t afford anything else.”

Yup. Almost 15 years newer, 100k fewer miles, and a “luxury car of the current century” rather than “80s econobox” interior.

I also feel like this is a failure that’s linked (at least in part) to these being used as rental cars. Owners would generally know how to use the charge port doors; renters don’t and end up causing breakdowns.

Yup. And even the BASE 911 starts at 97400. In other words, you can by a new C8 plus a new Mach E to haul the kids (after tax rebate) for the price of a 911 with 0 options.

Yeah, I feel like that’s the beginning and end of the story right there.

I feel like if you are a person who needs to ask Tom if it’s a good idea to buy from the junkyard, you’re a person who shouldn’t buy from the junkyard.

Agreed.

Exactly. There are multiple e39 M5s on my Craigslist right now (yes, it’s in my saved searches) for less than this. Sure, they have more miles, and likely are hiding some issues, but this car isn’t perfect either. For 21k, I’d want the 540i that is Mecum worthy.
