thank you - you have just cured me of my bad habit of falling asleep on the sofa instead of going to bed.

Thank you, that was lovely!!

Ooh, I don’t know why but this story feels particularly scary!  Thanks for sharing!

I had broken up with the only man I had ever thought I was going to marry because I’d just turned 35 and it was clear that we weren’t going to get married after all. He left town for grad school, I had to empty all the junk out of our big beautiful old house and move into a basement room of a group house.

This is the best!  Especially that last line :)

Ahahaha I’m dying! You mom is adorable!!

This was really sweet to read, I needed that today. Please give that guy a big huge hug.

Wow, that’s a brilliant way to handle it!

Yup. I asked for accommodations for a disorder that I struggle with, and now everybody in our office knows about it and a few openly roll their eyes over how I’m so lazy and disorganized (despite my excellent reviews and quantitative record of success). If it had been properly handled, only 3 people would have needed

I think you are right. I live in the DC area, and in the last decade I have been happily surprised with the ways that local small museums and parks in central Maryland are telling a wider range of stories, and revisiting the whitewashed history we learned in school (not to mention all of the investment in developing

I believe multiple things can be true. If someone is messed up enough to marry a creep like Woody then of course it’s plausible they’re messed up as a mother. Mia could have been terrible to her adopted kids, AND Woody used the resulting alienation to go after Soon Yi. Mia could have been cruel to her adopted kids AND

Thank you so much for sharing all the photos!! I really liked seeing the various booths - it’s fun to live vicariously through all the pics of happy ladies :)

I so impressed that all the colors are so bright and saturated, but absolutely beautiful together. It seems like the last few years I’ve seen a lot of mishmashes of intense colors that look absolutely horrendous together.

I don’t live in NY and so I have not heard of this woman. Regardless of other drama in her background, her accounting of the assault sounds very plausible to me just because I know so many other women who’ve gone through scenarios exactly like that.

To the folks in the grays who are saying, “Well this was bad, but he really should have sat down,” I want you to do a little thought experiment.

No details about the bearded diver? He’s pretty darn cute in that wetsuit.

I know exactly what you mean!

eww

I get what you’re trying to say. But I can’t imagine calling 911 to report that a bad man said something to me.  Mostly because I can’t imagine them actually sending a cop to respond.

Not just coming of age... plenty of older women too! When I worked at a department store in the late 90's, the managers trained us to keep our eye out for middle-class white ladies. They told us that they were the ones most likely to steal clothing, more so than the black ladies or the white working class folks.
