Thank you so much for sharing all the photos!! I really liked seeing the various booths - it’s fun to live vicariously through all the pics of happy ladies :)

I so impressed that all the colors are so bright and saturated, but absolutely beautiful together. It seems like the last few years I’ve seen a lot of mishmashes of intense colors that look absolutely horrendous together.

I don’t live in NY and so I have not heard of this woman. Regardless of other drama in her background, her accounting of the assault sounds very plausible to me just because I know so many other women who’ve gone through scenarios exactly like that.

To the folks in the grays who are saying, “Well this was bad, but he really should have sat down,” I want you to do a little thought experiment.

No details about the bearded diver? He’s pretty darn cute in that wetsuit.

I know exactly what you mean!

eww

I get what you’re trying to say. But I can’t imagine calling 911 to report that a bad man said something to me.  Mostly because I can’t imagine them actually sending a cop to respond.

Not just coming of age... plenty of older women too! When I worked at a department store in the late 90's, the managers trained us to keep our eye out for middle-class white ladies. They told us that they were the ones most likely to steal clothing, more so than the black ladies or the white working class folks.

Yup... and this is the problem with having police officers stationed in schools.  When they are right there, the kid gets arrested instead of just getting detention or sent home.

You are right about the unfair burden.

yup, exactly.  I wouldn’t have necessarily thought of the language barrier at first, but I would have thought of dementia immediately.

I have a family member who is a social worker and works with seniors. She says it’s true that many illnesses that come with age can increase angry, aggressive behavior, because no one likes being disoriented and confused. However, it doesn’t explain truly hateful behavior UNLESS that person was already harboring

Thank you for talking about investing in it!!! There ARE great solutions bubbling up out here, but for some reason it’s really under the radar of investors.

Wouldn’t implementing bottle deposits speak to that financial incentive?  So if you want to buy your water in a plastic bottle, fine, but you’ll pay the 8 cents it’s going to take to deal with it.

I got them as a college graduation present from my mom. We had very little extra money so this was a big deal. I picked my outfits carefully - a blazer for a professional headshot, a ruffly silk blouse for a dressy pic to send to relatives, and a denim jacket for the casual pic to share with friends. The glamour

Yes. The wealthy women I know around here wear Talbots and Eileen Fischer for every day clothes they don’t have to think about, and classic looks for fundraisers and embassy stuff. Michelle Obama’s style is pretty much the epitome of well-dressed in DC.

I sort of had the opposite experience. We are white and were house-hunting in a majority-black county. The white realtor from a whiter area (who I mostly chose because his wife had done a huge favor for a family member of mine) kept trying to show us stuff in the next county over. But we had strong reasons for wanting

I used to think about trying it, but a school friend of mine went on it in his early twenties and did commit suicide. He had generally been a pretty happy-go-lucky guy, no history or signs of depression, and his closest friends and family were all stunned - they blamed the Accutane since it was the only thing that had
