Pretty sure theQueenisHere is trolling all over these comments. For example, upthread one lady said she didn’t attend last year because she was extremely pregnant at the time, and Queen replied “Being pregnant is not an excuse - we need women who are going to put in the grunt work”

There is a group called “Not Without Black Women Takeover” that announced they are organizing a group from Baltimore to come to the DC march. I was glad to see that the march organizers covered the cost of their buses and invited the director of NWBW be one of the speakers.

I think I am an example of that. Before the March, I was only occasionally involved in politics, either when needed for my work, or occasionally (like once every 5 years) when I would go to the statehouse to testify about a very niche pet cause of mine. But in 2017, I drastically increased my giving to issue advocacy

I agree with you except that I think this show hits hardest with women who wish someone would show up and make *their husband* better.

I’d always wondered how so many street kids managed to survive back then, so what you say makes total sense.

Ah, fair enough. I went to college north of the Mason Dixon line, so you won’t catch me arguing that the North isn’t as racist,

What parts of rural Maryland make it not-southern to you? I hear this often from folks from the deep south, and always wonder what makes it feel different to them.

Wow. This is the first time I’d ever seen the video. I didn’t really like the song back in the day, partly because his voice was all cracked and yearning and creepy, and partly because my freshman roommate played Dave Matthews on a constant basis.

I’m your age and I disagree a bit with you.

I like to read obituaries of famous people and figure out how miserable they were at my age (currently late 30's).

I am rooting for her too!

Thanks for mentioning the disconnect.

I work at a nonprofit that gives gently-used furniture, appliances, and other home essentials to neighbors in need. Our clients include refugee families and folks who are moving out of homelessness. This is always a fine line to navigate. We need to share stories of our work so that folks will continue to donate their

Oops, sorry, I read too fast! I thought you said “The media should be reporting on racists more, not less.”

I hear you... but I wish there were at least a few reporters going out and interviewing rural black folks.

Probably true! The Target by me is consistently understaffed and understocked relative to the volume of foot traffic. The parking lot is always full no matter the time of day - I always have to park at least 25-30 spaces away from the entrance. Every once in a while I go to a Target in a different area and am amazed

My husband noticed that I started wearing slightly sexier clothes to parties and events after we got moved in together. He asked about it, and I said well, I have a large chest and occasionally I buy a dress online that turns out to look more revealing on me than on the model (hello wrap dresses!). I didn’t wear them

Kmart gives me sturdy cotton plus size basics and jeans in tall sizes. Target offers me polyester crap that is mixed in with maternity and clearance stuff. As a large woman, I feel like Target has sent very mixed signals about whether they want my business over the years.

I agree on Macy’s, it’s all dingy carpet and so. much. polyester.
