The showrunners talk about what they changed in season 1 versus the book here and I don't think there are any huge spoilers for season 2.

I haven't read the book and it took a long time for things to click for me. Some things only make sense in a rewatch.
The existing season of the show tells a complete story (no need for more seasons to finish a story) that came from a novel.
My Netflix DVD queue brought me Kiss Me Deadly, chose it since it was directed by Robert Aldrich from Feud and he talks about it in that one episode. a.) Cloris Leachman spent five minutes crying weirdly, then five minutes screaming weirdly and not sure if she was not a good actress at this point or if that was what…
Rewatching John Carpenter's The Thing. Forgotten the order of deaths so plenty of suspense and horror second time around. Some of the stop action animation is not great but still pretty good for the time.
I posted this above, but they cut the betrayal scene.
OK it turns out they had an additional scene that was cut at the last moment. Neither the director or the actors knew so the show runners overrode the script/director.

It seemed kind of weird to me that Taystee was asking for essentially a conviction of Bailey pre trial and that everyone at least on the prison side knows that is impossible.
I'm not sure how we've had reasonable discussions here at all because ew.com and theatlantic.com both use disqus and there are an astounding number of right wing trolls on those sites.
The New York Times hired Ben Stein as a columnist after Nixon was

the W invasion into Iraq and Stephens is in addition to David Brooks. and Maureen Dowd who is ostensibily a progressive has been an attack dog against the Clintons for so long she…
The other side of the coin your description of the Cuban missile crisis misses is in the first page of the wikipedia article you linked to - the USA installed nuclear weapons in forward operating bases in Italy and Turkey prior to this that we removed as a condition of the Russians removing theirs from Cuba.
No new TV so I watched A New Leaf DVD from Netflix. The original Ebert review gave it four stars, got a few laughs out of it but just seemed so dated. The scenes in 1970 New York seemed like a different world with the homogeneous crowds of caucasians, but even Girls first season seemed off because of the same…
One thing I am wondering is if they are going to re edit it for DVD release whenever that happens - the commercial breaks are quite jarring if one fast forward/ignores the commercials.
Was totally expecting them to shoot Janine in the head when the handmaids refused. The other wild possibility was them killing Aunt Lydia - it seems like those guys with guns would get in trouble for actually shooting the women that are fertile.
It's a plot point on iZombie for people to totally zombie zone out!
The only way these characters could behave any worse is to go full on comedy ala It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia or The Mick. Not knowing anything about trans, the first season got a lot of sympathy from me for Tambor's character's situation but I'm going to have to sit this season out.
At this point I would feel better as a refugee in Canada than in the United States. They get healthcare!
This was preceded by the star chamber trial. They were punishing the guy who had an emotional affair with his handmaiden and met with her outside of the ceremonial rape and had unpermitted sex acts with her. She went to the bridge with their baby and then accused him in front of the wife and many whatever law…
Judy Greer just showed up in Casual and she is hotter than all the young people at the tech firm she works at in the show. Given the show, I guess this means she is going to have an affair with either the lead character or his best friend, or the lead female character.
IIRC the women get paid 10x the men as well.
