I might have to consider this for the shower. My condo went “green” and installed a solar water heating system on it’s “hotel style” water system (no water heaters in individual units). If I am in the shower after 6:20 AM, it takes 8-10 minutes to get something other than tepid when external temps are 68F.

Excellent point! For some reason, that bothers me less. I never claimed it was a rational response. Maybe the thanks without “in advance” feels less manipulative - whereas the “in advance” highlights the promise/presumption of something occurring. Leaving it out doesn’t draw attention and leaves it more open ended.…
