I am a single guy in my 20s. I have so much trouble with vegetables.

I'm torn. I don't think this in any way qualifies as science. Not even close.

Index funds are stocks.

How much money should a person have to start investing (outside of a traditional payroll deduction retirement account)? 10k? 100k? More? I imagine it's kind of like blackjack- you need to be prepared to put up some money up front just to ride out any rough patches.

I work in an office environment. I just counted. Yesterday I received 15 emails. Most of them were important (e.g. "here's the location of this file I promised you"). I just don't see work email as much of a hassle.

I'm no more qualified than you to give financial advice, but...I can't see much reason to split your earnings equally between a traditional 401k and a Roth account. Pick one and go with it. Nobody knows whether either will be better long term, and the best projections expect they will come out approximately the same.

A tip at a restaurant is part of their wage. A tip is expected. You can leave a smaller tip if you're unhappy, but zero tip is unacceptable. You should plan it into the cost of your meal.

- The mailman one...I never really knew. I didn't know it was customary.

Nobody should ever throw a 15% tip back in your face. It's still the customary rule. But within my circle of friends, we usually stay in the neighborhood of a 20% restaurant tip. I consider 15% more of the minimum acceptable amount.

Wi-fi, Bluetooth and GPS being "on" does not drain your battery. It only matters when they're in use. Leaving them "on" makes them available, should an app request their service. It's a big myth, which leads to people sabotaging the usefulness of their phones.

In the short term yes, that's fair. But it's not something you can project with any confidence over a career. Let's say you took a job at $55k and the economy tanks and your salary get's frozen for two years (which is a scenario that's happened to lots of people).

I think it depends on your industry and your value. Like you said, they have 100 equally qualified applicants, why would they pay you a dime more? But if you bring something unique and desirable to the table, then you're in the driver's seat.

"In other words, if you don't negotiate, you can stand to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in your lifetime."

Why don't you guys every turn these into Windows background themes?

At what age should a person start to see a dermatologist regularly as a preventative check for skin cancer? (e.g. moles, discolorations, etc.) How regularly should you go? Once a year? Every 5 years?

Hey Matt-
