The point is that people rarely carry guns while they are naked in bed with someone or at a house party. We’re not talking about assaulters jumping out of bushes.

Yes. Because progressivism is bullshit: It’s a label just like “Citizens for Better Bike Lanes” (a group formed to remove a bike lane and restore parking on their block).

Perhaps for genre fans - thrillers and horror are genres I rarely watch, and I only watched Get Out due to the hype. But yeah, it’s an overgrown twilight zone episode. Personally the only good moment was when the hero is about to escape and the cop car pulls up. They probably should have cut the film right there and

I have low hopes. I like old Spike Lee but he’s entered the “I’m only making films for my own reasons” part of his career. Congrats on getting there, I don’t want to watch that stuff. And I don’t think Peele is good at all and Get Out was massively overhyped for what was really a by-the-book horror-thriller.

I read the Xanth novels as a kid and book one of Virtual Mode (which features a young teen girl who is suicidal after a gang rape) and even then I always found him a bit too pervy, even as a 12 year old, and not in a “tee-hee-that’s-kind-of-sexy” way.

I read it as specifically blaming Rolling Stone and Ederly and excluding “Jackie”.

This willful abdication of journalistic skepticism ... This was connected to the activists’ top commandment: Believe survivors.

It looks fine by me.

a few questions:

We have a lot of sexist assumptions. Had this been gender flipped everyone would have immediately picked up on the “you forbade her from talking to a friend?” as controlling and manipulative and somewhat slut-shamey.

NoFunnyName... uh, so you tried to isolate your husband from a woman he once kissed, and you consider continuing to talk to her (without any sex or apparently any physical contact of any kind) “cheating” and “an affair”.

Can one oppose DeVos/Trump and still think the Obama-era Title IX instructions went too far? There’s plenty of evidence of specific abuse (“weaponized Title IX,” as DeVos calls it) - is there any countervailing evidence that the new policies have helped victims?

Eh - if you watch the video, it seems nearly impossible the knew it was Bennett - they’re doing the whole clear-the-room thing, then one turns and says he sees someone running, then chases him. I mean, if that cop knew Bennett was there, knew of and objected to his politics, and then found him while not leading his

It’s impossible to make the case that the police singled out Bennett - for being black or for any other reason. Something alerted them, then they chased and apprehended him. That’s it really, after watching that video I don’t see any other way to call it. They were suspicious of him. That suspicion was wrong, but in

Gondry is, IMO, the best filmmaker; and I think the French are the best filmmakers. There is an element of their culture which values style-as-substance but doesn’t go over the top for my American sensibilities. It’s great.

If you want to let out kids who were manipulated, you’d be letting out a LOT of dangerous criminals. All those drug/gang killings in the 80s and early 90s, those were all kids, and no one’s really standing up for them to get released cause ‘well enough time has passed’.

Easy to defeat. A simple mouse macro that moves the mouse and hits a few keys every X seconds/minutes (random delay) would be impossible to detect.

That game was stolen and you know it

Bavasi sucked, but Jack Z was a straight snake-oil salesman. Came in with all this “analytics” talk but that just meant it was a different type of player who’d sign as a FA, find out what the organization was like, and then decided it wasn’t worth trying as hard.

I mean, it’s been two seasons. As a longtime fan, that was waaaaaaay less damaging and heartbreaking than the loss against the Steelers. Being a yard away from winning is 99% as good as getting that final yard. They didn’t. People screw up.
