I highly, highly recommend The Basic Eight by him, in addition to the entire Series of Unfortunate Events, though the latter is pretty young, so you have to be able to deal with that.  Basic Eight is one of my favorite books ever, and is tonally similar to Adverbs and the darker stuff in his Lemony Snicket persona.…

I highly recommend The Basic Eight, another of Handler's more adult books.  It's one of my favorites of all time, and has a lot of the wit and charm of Series of Unfortunate Events, but also a bunch of high school drama nerds on absinthe.  Really great shit.
