It’s just occurred to me that the great Red Shirt joke from Into Darkness is never going to be really funny again.

Yes, the only child thing really got to me. As another only, it’s always in the back of your head that your parents need you to be alive and safe - so much of their happiness and well-being is bound up in yours. I hope he didn’t have time to think about that.

Don’t worry about it, just remember how lucky we all are to still be getting older when they don’t. And remember how pissed they’d be to see us getting stressed or miserable when really we’re so ridiculously lucky.

I think this would be much better than killing him off screen - Chekhov deserves to be ‘Chekhov, Pavel, rank: Admiral’ one day. I think I’d personally prefer them to mention he’s having a wonderful time out there among the stars.
