More and more I find myself dismayed at the community here. In the last month, I’ve been told that because I have internet access, my experience growing up, living with water scarcity, is meaningless.

I remember when an Indiana woman who was pregnant committed suicide because the father of the child-to-be abandoned her. She survived but her fetus did not. She was charged with murder, the father-to-be was not.

I’ve actually been told on Jezebel (hi, fortheloveofbeets and DoobyOne!) that my disability precludes me from ever leaving my home, or attending a concert venue, or even going out in public. I’m sure someone like that is thrilled at the prospect of a disabled young woman getting beaten up.
