As someone who has only driven FWD cars where you kinda just gotta hope for the best, this is out of my comfort zone.

In the case of tuned GTI’s, yeah sometimes you can go really light on the throttle and be going faster than needbe, especially in stop-and-go traffic. I have to put it in Normal mode rather than Sport, but all that does is bog the whole thing down.. It’s either slow and grumpy or fast and obnoxious. But, I love it.

In NYC it’s more like “when” to drive enthusiastically rather than “where”, though both apply.

As an owner of a 2015 Mk7 GTI (performance pack of course), i’m actually regretfully happy they’re not bringing it over to the US. I’d be jealous as hell of anyone driving one.

Some people are running Stage 3+ on a GTI.. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to handle it lmao. To be completely honest I don’t really have crazy traction issues either. Even in rainy oily situations the car loves to hook up. I live in NYC and come from an old Hyundai Santa Fe, so take that as you will speed wise.

I started playing Call of Duty before Call of Duty was even a thing: see Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (created by the same studio albeit different people; Infinity Ward).

The aftermarket for GTIs is insanely huge. You can actually buy a full “R400" bodykit off multiple reputable websites.

You would be surprised with how balanced and refined the new MQB platform is. I have a Mk7 GTI boosted to about 316HP/386TQ at the crank with stock wheels and stock all-seasons. Yes it’s pretty easy to burn rubber, but it’s also very easy to modulate the throttle and still be able to accelerate fast as fuck without

These days, the quote “there’s no replacement for displacement” doesn’t really hold true. It never really did with F1 cars, but now you can get a 2.0 inline 4 engine to push over 1000hp, and be street legal.

That’s always what I mean when I tell youngins “I’ve been playing CoD since before CoD was even a thing”

And the you realize that a simple ECU tune (Stage 1) Mk7 VW GTI can get into the same 11 1/4 times, and you start to wonder what happened to all of your $,$$$’s

That shit looked like it was 8 years old as soon as it came out

I love how people can look at that car and think it’s a simple Malibu... Especially with all the comments in particular on this article... GTFO this website if you think that this even remotely resembles a “sleeper”

I don’t care what anyone says.. I’ve seen ONE particular SS multiple times in my area, and at a quick first glance it was obvious it wasn’t a simple crappy Malibu!

Every VW GTI ever made begs to differ in regards to “really as good as a FWD car could get”

Simple ECU tune for the new GTI brings it up to 316HP/386TQ.

I'm getting $160 a month with the same specs? 5 phone plan, 2.5GB each line. (T-Mobile)
