@Tony Bullard Jr: like i wrote in the previous comment the phone had usb mass storage disabled by default and because of that the pc couldn't even recognize it.

@haran_elessar: For the syncing it is definitely a samsung shinanigan since they have it default to Samsung Kies and not usb as mass storage ( Samsung doesnt have an official release of Kies in US ).

Just got the galaxy s after loosing my iphone 4... was super excited and still am about a few things, but overall i don't think android is a as good as i thought it would be. for one the android market is full of freaking garbadge and i am yet to figure out how to sync my music !! wtf i dont want to spend hours to set…
