Yeah, totally. Also, the one with the Palestinian and Jewish kid, while not equally bad, is pretty over the top. Kid with a giant keffiyah, kid with locks and a big hat, sharing the world. I realize the message is peace, but it’s so awfully done, and ham-fisted.

You know, I still have no idea what Benetton sells... have any of you guys seen a Benetton product?

I had that same reaction.

When you buy flats, take them straight to the cobbler before wearing and have thicker soles put on. Spending extra money sucks, but it will make nice (or not nice) shoes last a lot longer.

Almost all of my shoes come from Target. Merona for days.

Thank-you! I was thinking the same thing. One of the most racist ads I have ever laid eyes on.

I knew about the United Colors of Benetton ad, but only because my English teacher in high school (Mr. Antil) created a media/cinema literacy class so we discussed stuff like their ad campaign. There was also a smaller version of the media literacy portion in his regular english classes.

The racist mammy vibe is strong. You are not over thinking it.

Yes, my mind immediately went to mammy with that add.

In reality, it only matters what the few at the top think and if they like it. Everyone else is doing a job, probably griping about how crazy this project is.

Flats are fundamentally ephemeral, which is why I’ll never understand buying Tieks.

Not my first thought, but yes, now I see it. I wonder if reversing it - a black child and a white mother - would make it any better. Because at that point, is it saying a white woman had to raise a black child that a black woman couldn’t?

Aww, this story made me choke up, honestly! My late husband had a friend who used to do the real estate deals for Payless. Both the friend and my husband died last year unexpectedly. I know that they both would have loved to gossip over this story - too bad they weren’t here to read about it......

It’s uncanny. Really.

I’m cautiously on this team as well, but every time I see/hear anything about pregnancy (or GASP, read the comments), I hope right back onto Team No Way Fuck That Noise.

Agree- Don’t let horror stories scare you off! Once my thirties hit, I decided baby> my paralyzingly fear of labor and delivery. Figured I’d figure some way to get the baby out.

I feel like society glosses over this trauma!!

Here’s the thing. PCOS makes it very hard if not impossible to conceive. That was my case. And 45 now, so......I’m gonna go lay down.

Having PCOS increases your risk of cancer but apparently getting pregnant can decrease your PCOS and your risk of cancer for some hormonal reason

Yeah, of all the horrible things I was prepared for from my birthing classes, I was not prepared to not be able to pee. I, too, had a legitimate pee bag for a good couple days, after several nurses just dismissed me, saying “oh, you’ll be fine, just relax.” Never thought I would have anything in common with Kim K...
