Trump's more of a William Randolph Hearst type of celebrity, IMO. He's the rich guy who needs the adoration and respect that he doesn't think he's gotten- but which he thinks he deserves- as a businessman. He's not really an entertainer.

And Hanks, btw, is politically neutral.

The only big name entertainment industry Republican who's done that is Schwarzenegger. Reagan, Fred Thompson, Sonny Bono and Fred Grandy were all B list celebrities at best. And Thompson was in politics- albeit as a staffer- before he became an actor.
