I just don’t understand the point of splitting hairs like this. I can think people have done evil things and think that it makes them an evil person and still know that they’re human and that a lot of people are capable of being that kind of person. I am super duper uninterested in “the softer side of the Nazi party.” Like, I can barely articulate how unnecessary that feels to me. Miss me with all the “but they were just human beings too!!” bullshit. Any movie about Nazis and the Holocaust should make most people watching it feel real, real bad about the nature…

This comment, I think, summarizes why this story feels so irrelevant and unnecessary. We all want to believe that most of the Naizs and Hitler Youth were just good people who got conscripted into something they hated and were tormented by it every day, but it does seem much more believable to me that plenty of them…

Yeah, YOI is actually one of the most popular animes in recent years. But that said, I doubt that anyone on the Hallmark team had heard of it, especially since they would’ve started pre-production on this series way before YOI aired....

Yeah I agree, the “I rebel” line actually gave me a lot of pause and made me worry the movie was going to be terrible. Very glad it wasn’t in the film.

The “charisma” thing has always confused me though, cause.... was Hitler charismatic?? Really?? In all the videos I’ve seen of him he comes across as a shrill, manic little man-child. I never understood why he was supposed to be “charismatic.”
