I'd also like to say how alarming it is that a search for "funny traffic stop" on youtube returns mostly videos of shootouts.

Ok, this one's pretty good, and Yakety Sax comes preinstalled

Since this accident happened on the 133 my guess is that one car was on its way to go surfing and weed is possible in either car, it is after all California.

They recieved a "good" rating in this test.

"NO, Elon! Don't do a victory lap about this! And certainly don't post one to twitter!"

just add some weed and that they were headed out to go surfing, and I think that's all the applicable ones

I'm really not sure why, but these types of accidents give me the eeriest of feelings... probably due to the 'no median' road way with speeds over 50mph? Growing up in S. NH for years the only way to travel W to E or E to W was a stretch of road known as Rt101. This was literally a 2 way road with speeds over 50mph.

Does the Tesla not have a lane-departure warning system?

this is going to sell shit-tons of Tesla's. If there is one thing to learn from this tragedy, it is that the Model S is more secure than your average Ford SuperDuty F-350.

That's a CL....

You've picked two economy cars that have been given sporty apprehensions.

Musk just tweeted "I guess this is what we get for allowing customers to buy our cars. Shoulda known better."

What if her foot slipped off the brake, thereby flooring the accelerator? That would be easy to do in either of the cars I drive daily and have driven over the last 16 years.

Uh tiss uh tiss uh tiss uh tiss

What I find disgusting is these people drag carmakers into huge investigations because they can't own up to confusing the pedals.

If she had been hitting the brake, the car would not have done that. In fact, when parallel parking, the regeneration on the gas...errrrrr accelerator slows the car down to the point where you barely use the brakes.

Since when did it become the norm to blame hitting the wrong damn pedal on "unintended acceleration?" You screwed up, own up to it. Stop trying to dish out blame to the manufacturers.

exactly. it's pretty common for the elderly to accelerate unintentionally into buildings, people, other cars. i wouldn't blame the tesla for this.

on another note, i rode in a model s a couple days ago and now i want one. i don't care what the critics say about its range not living up to the promise or any of that

"Could it have been another pedal mixup? That's entirely possible." You already said she's 71... I think we all know what actually happened.
