I think it has a hope if it costs equal to or preferably, less than an equivalent TDi. Although, doesn't this pose a cannibalization problem in their line up?

It can't be a specialty repair for much longer, F150, C-Class, Model S, Range Rover, A8, etc. Alumin(i)um has made quite an inroads and is now a key part of meeting emissions standards. Granted, it is still expensive any way you look at it...
economy and driving dynamics. They'll be able to sell the line, "and Sir, it is lighter then the 3 series making it MORE sporting!" Even if the average buyer can't tell it will make a good sales line.
"Wow. So luxury. Bronze. Very business. Your moving up." -official marketing material
I've sat in the Tesla and it was cool... I could see getting used to it, but the lack of feedback, any feedback at all, is just unnerving. I wouldn't feel so back looking away if the Tesla had city safety/radar cruise.
I have heard this from actual owners... Usually follows this format:
Amen! Every time I get into the parent's XC70 I think the same. So clean. So useful. I don't have to think about changing the radio (I'm looking at you iDrive). It just makes sense. You really don't have to remove your eyes from the road to fumble around with crap...
this is the part where I say something like... "All trucks look the same, and where's the diesel, manual, leather-trimmed, 2wd model?"
That's the point. Truck, idling, self-immolates. Tesla after major major (and rare) damage lights up after warning the passengers 5-15mins before there is any real danger.
The outgoing GM CEO created a task force to 'study Tesla' maybe, this is one of the first products to incorporate their research?
I know! If this were a Tesla truck we'd have pictures... AND gawker media style headlines. *sigh*
Welcome to our life, you get the diesel outback, while I make do with 22-24mpg in my 2009 outback. Do I wish we got little engined shitboxes with leather and ACC as options? yes. But apparently my countrymen only want V6 Camrys...
"Ewwwwww!"
GREAT, now flat/no-finish woods and leather steering wheels will be in rental cars. Thus making all other luxury cars feel cheap and old. UGH. Just like with glossy wood, Chrysler has arrived to ruin the day.
fucking troll, leave. NOW!
actually...
^This tip. Works every time, all the time.
Tesla predates the carbon-market, so back the fuck off of them for a second. As for, "toys for rich people" what do you think the S-Class, A8, 7 Series, XJ, & Quattroporte are? They are expensive luxury cars for wealthy people (or what you would call, "job creators" in your Reaganomic parlance) who don't want to…
Exactly.
