These laws are perfectly rational. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to justify Israel’s behavior, so Israel’s defenders resort to smearing pro-Palestinian activists and movements as antisemitic and push for laws criminalizing anti-apartheid activism. Just because it’s evil doesn’t mean it’s irrational.

lol

lol you fucking goofus

Excactly...none of the people mentioned are actually leftist. Can we at least frame the conversation correctly. I’ll take an old lefty white guy over any neo-liberal centrist.

But we had 8 years of a young, black president who copied old white centrist dems and republicans and kept us intervening in the ME, &dropping more drones then all of them. He also led the vilification of America’s teachers and the over-testing of children w his RTTT [failed] ed policy. And he bailed out the WStreet

Strangely true. I have to admit I feel the same way. No fucking white men. Except maybe Bernie. I know it doesn’t make a lot of sense. But I think, as Libby does, it’s because Bernie can be trusted — as shown by his whole life — not to betray the principles upon which he runs and which he has brought to the table.

Hold on, you give Pelosi credit for fending off W’s attempt to privatize healthcare, but don’t blame her for not fighting hard enough for the public option? Also, let’s be honest, Obamacare is the offspring of Romneycare which itself was the brainchild of the fucking Heritage foundation.

Yet, Bernie remains one of, if not the most popular politicians in the country. Maybe because he speaks to and fights for the needs of the people (including the poor) instead of looking for ways to sell them out.

Bernie’s too old. The Democratic party needs fresh, new leadership. Like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

+1 rat that done bit my sister Nel

not to mention, Kamala Harris chose NOT to prosecute Steve Mnuchin. figure that one out.

If Neera Tanden is not on this list then it is wrong.

Oh shut the fuck up with that already.

I have the utmost respect for journalists, seriously. I listen to NPR and hear the commentators just like, listening to and responding calmly to these right-wing apologists and like, how?

Given the nature of politics surrounding the state of Israel in the American context, Prof. Hill should have known that black intellectuals, politicians, clergy, activists and entertainers are not allowed nuance when criticizing Israel’s treatment of the Palestinian people. For black people you are either pro-Israel

Yes. And anyone shitting on the south could drive 25 miles outside their city and find a strikingly similar political culture to the one they shit on.

To Republicans the various low rankings of Mississippi are a feature not a flaw. Keeping the majority of the people sick, poor, or hungry prevents them from organizing. It allows them to keep the majority subjugated and perpetuates power for those in power.

It reminds me of when LGBTQ people wrote off North Carolina because of HB2. Giving up on anyone because it seems hopeless is steeped in privilege. This is exactly when help is needed the most. Writing something off is just a convenient way to wash your hands of doing the work because you might not get the glory.

Living in the South, there really is a feeling that things are starting to turn. It might not be as soon as many of us would like, but I get the feeling that Trump’s election has finally lit the progressive spark that has been needed for a generation of people.

I grew up in the Deep South. It is absolutely the case that one should not write off the region en banc; however, rest assured that the racists are currently organizing like crazy to make sure this NEVER happens again by using all means possible.
