You know, this is the first season in MotoGP history where 8 different riders have won races. Ducati, Suzuki, and two satellite riders in the mix, all at the same time. It’s made for some unpredictable and crazy-awesome racing.

I only made the comment to highlight that there were a number of negligent factors in this scenario. Subcontractor or otherwise, it’s not relevant. Some group of people made poor decisions which led to this event; it was no accident.

We’re not debating the word “autonomous”. You’d be correct in thinking an autonomous vehicle is completely self-driving, because that’s the definition of autonomous.
Nitpick? You mean in the same way that you are nitpicking the term “Autopilot” in its use to describe Tesla’s system?
An aircraft’s autopilot requires a heavily trained pilot to be at the helm, not someone who just pulled their license out of a cereal box.
No, hell to that idea. That we need to keep lowering the bar to accommodate the weakest link is why we can’t have nice things.
It does not require a “constant hands-on”. The system prompts the driver to put their hands on the wheel after so much time has passed, because the system is designed to encourage the very vigilance which is required when using an autopilot system.
...automakers and marketers need to figure out how to sell these emerging technologies without overselling them. Tesla’s Autopilot, for example, probably shouldn’t be called that since it’s... not.
