I’ve got a 540i as well. It would be better with somewhere around 340hp. But it’s still got enough to get its self out of the way, and have a little fun in the meantime.

What’s The Ideal Amount Of Horsepower For You?

300-330hp seems perfect to me in an average sized sedan/wagon. Enough to have plenty of fun, not enough to REALLY get into trouble. And generally it means the engine isn’t tuned to the edge so you maintain some semblance of reliability and efficiency for everyday daily driver usage.

It’s the same engine as in the Fiat 500 Abarth which has no reliability problem that I know of. But Turbocharged < NA (and I daily drive a turbocharged car).

I wonder how free the press feel regarding covering real issues like the PU thing. The press seems so beholden to the teams and sponsors, there is so little irreverence and fun in their work.
