also not to respond to myself but no mention of the titular ben mendelsohn, who would be a terrible spider-man.

super Bojack joke and I love it
this tightrope job this season of doing is just fucking insane. i’m on the edge of my seat, still laughing at every joke, still care about every character (even the psycho killers!), still have no idea what’s going to happen.
One thematic thread that seems to be pulsing under the surface is that both Barry and Sally have been coping with their past trauma by exploiting it to further their acting careers rather than by trying to reckon with it in an honest way.
I love Noho Hank’s texting style.
The silent facial acting by Elsie Fisher has been excellent the last two weeks. I loved her in Eighth Grade and can’t wait to see where her character’s concerns factor into the season plot. Despite the disposal nature of the junket questions, it seems like her continued reluctance to compliment her boss’s boyfriend…
a personal favourite overlooked joke in the episode was ‘mr manity’ ‘please, call me hugh’. laws of humanity’s main character is literally called hugh manity. props to the writing team with that one
Agreed on the ambition part. Not everything worked, but they swung for the fences with bonkers ideas and didn’t once let the audience wonder how ludicrous it was that Egyptian gods are also real and canon in the MCU. NBD. We have Eternals (also, credit for at least trying something different), Asgardians, aliens, etc.…
To prepare for this role, Strong spent six months as an airplane.
May Calamawy in Taweret’s avatar costume almost made me bite clean through my dental work.
This is exactly how I felt about it. In general it was fine, but the gravitas of the cast (especially Isaac and Hawke) really carried it.
Moon Knight was a quirky show. Imperfect. Often reminded me of ‘90s and early ‘00s adaptations.
I’ve mentioned this in the comments of the previous episodes, but man I cannot praise enough the work done by Isaac and Hawke in this show. Like those were without a doubt the strongest acting performances in a MCU show so far and are pretty high there for MCU in general. I can see the WandaVision argument, but I feel…
A+ on costuming.
ahh because YOU don’t like it, that means everyone that does must lack taste. Yet here you are, commenting on something you don’t like, can’t be any more tasteless than that.
I agree that Heavy Metal Drummer is an outlier stylistically, but it is perfection in evoking wistful reminiscence over a time of blissfully misspent youth. It’s also a remarkably simple song, third verse same as the first. All this time later, it’s my favorite song on the album.
Out of curiosity, what age are we talking about? I was 30 when YHF came out and contrarian me was initially kind of meh about it, mainly because of the massive hype it got due to the whole Reprise thing. But my meh-ness didn’t last long and I recognized it as a pretty important and ground-breaking album, especially in…
This is my final feature for The A.V. Club. Thank you all for reading my music writing. It's been such a joy to give the music section the love it deserves.
Beautiful writing about this album
