Duke, UVa and the beat goes on...

“rude and reckless" is what I come to this site for. I would be disappointed if most of the posts (and nearly ALL of the comments) were not "rude and reckless". "Rude and reckless" is the coin of the realm here at Jezebel.

There is a third way - one that makes sense and is probably more consistent with the issues important to the demographic that posts here, to wit: www.garyjohnson2016.com

Good question “Why can’t we agree on what’s reasonable”

I think the answer is because we cannot agree on the purpose(s) of the right to bear arms guaranteed by the Second Amendment. You cite the right to self defense. There are many reasonable people who believe that is but one of the purposes of the right to bear

OR!!!! You (and by “you”, I mean those who would restrict the private ownership of firearms) could do it the intellectually honest way and seek to amend the Second Amendment. There is a way to do what you seek without waiting for a liberal court. If the cause of ending private ownership of guns (or certain classes of

I could explain to you - using historical examples - why this is wrong. BUt I doubt that you would read it with an open mind. But here is the short version - revolutions aren’t usually won with only the instigators fighting at the end. Most successful revolutions end with some measure of governments armed forces

1. Lexington, Concord et seq. (circa 1775)
B. St. Petersburg (circa 1917)
iii. Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) (circa 1975)

The list could be longer but this is a fair representation that revolutions can be fought against very strong opposition. It takes time and likely wouldn’t be resolved in a matter of months.

So - Hillary's parents were terrible people?

you suggested that the child was a terrible person - presumably because of his support of Trump. I suspect that you are Hillary supporter; I suspect further that you were not (or would not have been) a Goldwater supporter. My point, which was not at all obscure, is that it is a rather short sighted (and rather mean

Hillary Rodham supported Goldwater in ‘64 and she was a lot older than a 3rd grader.

I have swam in the East River several times (as part of the Brooklyn Bridge swim). It was a great experience each time. NYC Swim is a great organization that has been a part of the cleanup of the New York City waterways. We can now swim the Hudson, the East River and the harbor (around the Statue of Liberty)!

their chant from nearly 50 years ago affects folks today? Wait - what?

I am glad to have a conversation about racism - I am glad to have a conversation about Greek life. But to equate fraternity boys from two generations ago with Nazis doesn't move the discussion forward. Why invoke the Nazis and the big lie?

*sigh* - I don’t think you know what the word “defend” means

oh my goodness, nearly 50 years ago members of a group said something foolish at one chapter of that group. Let’s round up the grandchildren of those people and banish them from polite society.

Ruffian, please...

wow — you couldn’t be more wrong. How much investigation and research did you do before you reached this conclusion? I venture to say none at all. I suspect your "evidence" is anecdotal at best and the result of one or two interactions with a Greek. Why the hate?

Vader, please...

1) July is named after Julius Caesar
2) August is named after Augustus Caesar (nee Octavius)
3) Julius and Augustus are two different people.
4)Let me guess, you voted for Senator Sanders, right?

But WAIT! All of my gun control friends tell me when I argue that private ownership of guns is to protect our right and opportunity to throw off a tyrannical government that the idea of defeating the US Army is a pipe dream and therefore my argument is specious. So you can't be right, the US Army (or any valid analogy
