He was excellent along with Peter Falk in one of the best movies ever made.

This episode was so much better than it had any right to be. When I saw that it was a time travel episode and an episode that featured Kirk it felt like they were reaching for stunt plots that are normally reserved for the end of a show’s run when they need to goose ratings and don’t have anything left in the bag.

The Romulan agent lampshading this was pretty hilarious. “Goddammit, I thought I took care of this 30 fucking years ago but nooooo, the timeline just keeps kicking the can down the road!”

The Romulan chick said something to the effect of “All this Kahn stuff was supposed to start in 1992, but factions in the temporal wars had changed stuff.”

So it’s not a retconn in as much as it is a clue that there are outside forces mucking with the timelines.

Loved it.  Was hoping for Tim Blake Nelson to show up as Count Fenring, but I still haven’t seen him announced as definitely him.  He was one of the more interesting characters in the books, as a failed Kwisatz Haderach himself.

every frame of Dune 1, just like every single frame of BladeRunner 2049, is an artwork unto itself. A couple of the most visually stunning movies I’ve ever seen.

I’m surprised there wasn’t already been a law.

This Telescope does it for me.

That’s David Lynch, though. He likes stories about innocent, naif-like good guys versus evil, corrupt, physically grotesque bad guys, and that’s all over his version of Dune. It’s entirely possible he misunderstood the story.

Paul tells Jessica that he knows she’s pregnant in Part One, so it’s safe to assume Alia will show up in Part Two, seeing as how she’s a major character in Messiah and Children.

I liked the 2000 Dune miniseries; that was my first foray into this. Never saw the David Lynch ‘84 movie; I really only know that Sting played a Harkonnen in funky looking underwear.

The weird thing about the 1984 version is that it lost the point of the story entirely. Instead of being about how the prophecy is false as designed to use religion to motivate people, the prophecy is real.

I think the Villeneuve movie is definitely a better adaptation of the book. He’d been a Dune fan since he was thirteen and there are probably shots in these movies that had been in his head for decades. I enjoyed Part One and I’m looking forward to Part Two.

Still no Alia, which is interesting. I’m beginning to think they either cut her from the story or they’re doing a CGI thing, which hopefully won’t end up like the kid from the later Twilight movies. Still, CGI is probably the only way they could get capture the idea of her being an abomination.

Denis about to become the god of sci-fi cinema with his one.

Some genius hero hacker should reprogram the creepy Trumpbot with the audio from the “Access Hollywood” tape.

Aside from the actual 2016 election result, this is the best thing to happen from all that. The fact that Trump’s animatronic representation looks grotesque (very lifelike!) and is also essentially a gender-bent Hillary is some hilariously karmic perfection.

If this is true, I can’t believe Trump or his followers aren’t demanding it be changed. Like to the point of suggesting they will burn Disney World to the ground unless action is taken. LOL If he and his followers leave this alone. I will be shocked and amazed. I’m pretty sure this robot is the one in the audio

Being transimatronic is now a new life goal.

If true, does this mean that the Trump animatronic is trans?
