I agree with everything you say. I don’t really know what else to say. The piece by Katie is really well done and very even-handed. The whole thing really is troubling. But so is the obvious appropriation of Broaddrick’s story by right-wing conservatives who ordinarily go out of their way to discredit rape survivors.

Let’s not forget that Drumpf has been accused of rape or sexual assault by three women so far—one of whom was also underage at the time.

All I know is I will NOT be voting for Bill Clinton this November.

I have no idea if Broaddrick’s allegations are true or not, but her story is credible enough, and should be treated with sensitivity and seriousness.

I think it’s totally fair to have reservations about HRC for whatever it is that bothers you about her. Serious question: why do you think her own career advancement was her motivation?

I’m just kind of sad for her. (Not very, she has another gold medal this year.) I’ve never once interpreted her attitude as bratty, but she works her face off at her sport and when things didn’t go as she’d hoped, I’d bet it’s crazy hard to watch others do it. Many men and women can survive through violence, sexual violence and group sexual violence. It will be extremely difficult for them to overcome what has happened but with validation, acceptance, health care and their community support it can happen.

Even if they are eventually rescued, a lot of them will probably never be able to live a normal life after the trauma they’ve been through.
