To the benefit of everyone actually. Since currency isn’t a finite resource, taxing transactions is a simple way to control for currency inflation as the game matures. Almost every game has one/several ways to remove currency from their economy. It's not a bad thing.
What lesson is that?
The overwhelming majority of games have a posting fee/tax on AH/player shop systems to reduce inflation and create an additional way for currency to exit the economy. It’s proven way of making sure automated transactions don’t spiral out of control.
I liked The Leftovers but that show could’ve used a lot of editing to streamle its arcs. Every season the show felt to me like it was spinning its wheels around midseason.
