Yeah, unless they filled the tires with lead, no way is 400hp not going to be enough.

...What are these dudes even talking about? The Z is 400Hp with a manual and people are like “BuT iT mIgHT Be ToO HeaVy To Be fUn!” Fudge outta here with that.

It was a Giorgetto Giugiaro design.

No matter how many wipers, it’s still a beautiful car.

I think the mindset was just different back then. There was a large segment of the population that grew up with domestic cars and simply never considered any import cars. They just didn’t realize how awful domestic cars had become by the mid 70's.

I was gonna say pretty much the same thing. Seeing the Valiant mentioned in the article made me think “the Valiant was gone during this stretch.” Funny but the Aspen & Volare seemed like really mild updates of the Dart & Valiant, but they sucked, where the older cars were plain but honest transportation and much more

I seriously chuckled at Torch’s Volvo 240 suggestion. No one drove Volvo’s back then. Where in the hell were you even going to buy one, let alone get it serviced? I grew up on the outskirts of a major city and I don’t recall ever seeing a Volvo dealership (although there probably was maybe one).

That whole “if you have to ask, you weren’t there”, thing definitely applies to the Cutlass. They were big, soft (except for the 442, which was fucking awesome...the day I sold that thing...sigh), comfortable cars that got you where you were going and may have gotten you laid once you got there.

IIRC, we now have 11 race winning drivers in the F1 lineup. I seem to recall that this has not occurred for a while.

Wonderful win for Ocon, heck of a drive for Seb too, and what a phenomenal job of Alonso holding off Hamilton just long enough to keep him from simply Mercedes-ing past all the lesser cars ahead of him.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.

As I suspected, several morons in the comments on other sites are crying that Mercedes planned for Bottas to take all those cars out.

Now playing

that was a lot of fun to watch.....fonzy v hammy was a joy to behold

Your definition of “stealing” is very strange. Did Max “steal” victory in Imola by not getting passed by the field during his restart off? Did Max “steal” victory when Mercedes’ error in France gave him the lead? Did Perez “steal” victory when Lewis made a switch error in Baku? These are literally just circumstantial

The penalties are based on generic situations.

The rules do emphasize no bumper cars. Plus, F1 cars are very fragile and built of carbon, which likes to shred tyres quite easily. So crashing/bumping is discouraged.

Lewis did. It was reported as such.

This is precisely the thing - it was a racing incident borne out of a belief by Max that people would back off instead of crash. Which, in fairness, Hamilton did prior to this corner.

That’s not how it works. Collisions are a part of motorsport. Sometimes they’re minor. Sometimes they have greater, strategic repercussions.

It was a racing incident, nothing more.
