Conservative Christians trying for a state-by-state theocracy, for one example.

First season was squarely just OK. Described it elsewhere as a mystery box show with minimal interest in the mystery box. The cast is good, as noted here, so it kept me watching. But I really think they could have made a similar and more focused show without the mysterious machine that just focused on these characters

I don’t think people who are remotely interested in this reboot have any understanding of what The Office (UK) is or that it’s even relevant. You and I can show ourselves out, we dont want to be here anyways.

That’s unfair. It’s well known that he doesn’t drink.

Fat, dumb and so racist that Republicans say ‘Hey, maybe that’s a bit too racist!’ is no way to go through life, son.

Thats the thing about the Coachella demographic, You’ve got to remember that these are just simple influencers. These are people of Social Media . The common clay of the new Internet ... You know... morons.

As any Conan fan knows, the man is 100 percent, vocally Irish.”

I would love to see tv series set in Pottersville, that would be fun. If you haven’t read it, there’s an article from years ago by Gary Kamiya about how Pottersville looks a lot more fun than Bedford Falls.

Right, and the movie is extremely Dickensian in a way that is very emotionally satisfying. Dickens knew the galvanizing power of a good villain - the nastier and more melodramatic the better. I would say Capra is similar to James Cameron in this respect. Both are working in the sentimental tradition of storytelling

Neither of those dudes are hot enough to be in a “sexy love triangle” with Zendaya.

I think the only “oochie” moments for me are Annie the Bailey maid (I feel more embarrassed for that actress than anything for having to be this stereotype) and yeah, Mary being an old maid who works at the library is not *the best*. Otherwise, everything else is pretty unimpeachable.

I was very much the same too; I only finally sat down to watch it a few years ago and it’s annual viewing since. I always find it so interesting how the main conceit of the film that everyone thinks of makes up like 20 minutes tops of the movie. But you need to see ostensibly all of George’s life to get any of the

I too resisted watching until my late 20s. I’m on my 15th ish annual viewing at this point. And it is one of my favorite movies.

Kinda seems like this might just be a manic pixie dream girl fantasy for antisocial incel types.

Did anyone call for a ban? I just remember people mocking the movie and the incels who worshipped it.

The first movie was just a worse Taxi Driver, but maybe getting weird and wacky will give this one more of an identity.

We call the end stall in our office bathroom The Penthouse and it is absolutely fair game. Best I can tell there’s not a wheelchair-bound person in our entire 60-story building so I’m just not that worried about boxing somebody out.

I worked with a guy in a wheelchair for a few years and on one mortifying occasion got to witness the incredibly awkward moment when he was waiting for the designated stall and another guy walked out of it.

I actually legit love the 1985 Bride, in all its corny splendor, and it was the first thing I thought of when I heard the title.

...and Sting!
