At the time I’m typing this it’s 10 p.m. in London and the temp is 41 degrees. This happened earlier today (the article link says the story was written 12 hours ago), so I gotta think it was a bit warmer than 41 ... maybe about 50something. Not freezing but if a guy wants to wear a coat in that temp, I wouldn’t think

YES! I was just scrolling through a service now and had to yell “Oh, get the fuck outta here!” to no one!

Yeah, just the whole idea of someone deciding THEIR ego, THEIR pride is bigger than anything else going on in the room... hell, the world, since this was internationally televised... just...

AND the MFers clapping him on the back afterward, telling him “It’s alright...” I mean, sure, MAYBE they also sought out Chris Rock to check on him but we haven’t heard one word from any of them about that.

Yeah, a lot of folks seem to think her condition is common knowledge. I don’t know how you can say for sure that Chris Rock knew it. I just don’t think he would knowing make a joke about someone’s medical condition. He just doesn’t seem like that kind of guy and I can’t recall him doing it previously.

Pathetic also means “miserably inadequate; of very low standard.” So you can feel both for him.

The feud part, I guess is true. I remember the old joke but... ok.

I didn’t say they didn’t have writers, i said they don’t automatically research the subject of the joke. You claim they do. Prove it.

And you know this... how?

Unless it’s something obvious like a stutter or a limp, no comedian is going to look up a person’s personal medical history before making a joke. Is every comedian who makes a joke about Will Smith slapping someone supposed to check if he has an undiagnosed neurological condition first?

Good point. I’m reading places that Rock didn’t write the joke, one of the Oscars staff writers did.

Right? I mean the man played ALI!

First, let’s determine if he KNEW she had alopecia. Making a joke about someone’s hairstyle or suit or whatever is pretty ordinary.

I don’t think “awards shows should just die” is going to solve the problem, but, OK.

Partial standing ovation. Watch the clip where he goes up to get the award - not everyone was standing, or even applauding.

First, let’s figure out if Rock KNEW she had a “serious medical condition.” Their lives aren’t worldwide must-see-TV. I see a lot of folks saying they didn’t know.

Boom. They seem to think that everything that happens in their lives is a life lesson for everybody else and folks need to hear it.

I’ve always heard you have to have tough skin to be a stand-up. I didn’t think they meant literally.

“Will Smith didn’t go crazy. That Will Smith went Will Smith!”

Some of the same black folks cheering violence mediators in black neighborhoods are cheer Smith for smacking someone for making a comment. Doesn’t matter if they’re famous - if you’re for finding another way to resolve problems, then it applies here too.
