The impression I got from the documentary is that both Carole and Joe are hucksters, it’s just that she’s a middle class earth mother huckster, while Joe is a working class roughneck huckster. He gets punished, she doesn’t. His scams are violent and nakedly criminal, hers are white collar crimes. He shoots endangered

So what? Animation is built on plagiarism. If it weren’t for someone plagiarizing the Honeymooners we wouldn’t have the Flintstones. If someone hadn’t ripped off Sergeant Bilko, there’d be no Top Cat. Huckleberry Hound, Chief Wiggum, Yogi Bear? Hah! Andy Griffith, Edward G. Robinson, Art Carney. Your honor, you take

maybe that’s why they had to go for a theatrical release

I look forward to the trial being a scientific and philosophical exposition and debate—with many expert witnesses from various fields including literature, neurology, psychology, et al—about the nature of human emotions. Televise that shit.

Everything’s a fetish for somebody.

I know they’d never do it, but this would great if they just went wild with it.

Where I live in Canada the two NBC affiliates I get are from Detroit and Spokane. At 9 I fired up the PVR only to see some local show on the Detroit feed. Damn. However, Spokane came through, so I watched that ‘live’ at 11.

If only there was some way you could get access to HBO’s entire library for $15.

The Unsolved Mysteries one just seems flat. Robert Stack’s narration and guidance though an episode is sort of what made that fun and interesting at the same time (like Nimoy with In Search Of). This needs a new personality to take you along for the ride.

Anyone looking at the upwards trajectory of covid in America and thinking they should open a movie in the next three months is insane.

Same thing in reverse with the Spinners. The UK already had a band called the Spinners, so Atlantic Records decided to market their band as the Detroit Spinners over the pond. Kinda strange when the band made most of their hits at Atlantic with Thom Bell creator of the Philadelphia soul sound, Yeah, I know they

I’m just holding out for when someone figures out a way to consolidate all the individual streamer services into one service. It’d be nice if they all showed up, on, say, a schedule where you could view all the services and simply switch between programming without switching apps or loading in new things.

Dean’s drive was over-shadowed by the much better known “Jan and Dean” drive, which was used to propel little old ladies from Pasadena. Probably on their way to JPL.

Gurihiru can do no wrong.

I figured out why Elmo is the scariest Muppet.

I’ll be the pedantic jerk here: when the headline said cartoon network I thought maybe there was somehow a new show I might be sharing with my kid in the near future to get temporary reprieve from PAW patrol constantly. That’s a big nope.

I might as well be the first one to say it: Burt Macklin, Navy SEAL!

So the goal was clearly to tell the most meta, self-aware Rick and Morty story ever, and they succeeded. I loved that the map was Dan Harmon’s story circle. I loved that even though they made that really implicit, Rick’s (and therefore Dan’s) goal was to try to escape the confines of that circle by telling a story

This episode reminds me a lot of Community, very much an Abed meta episode...

The Bechdel gag was very good, the part where Rick thinks he’s just some professor who gets suddenly killed by Vietnam PTSD-Morty was solid. This feels like one of those episodes that absolutely kills on repeat viewings for sure.
